How to separate music on one PC for two different iTunes accounts

A question regarding two separate iTunes accounts on the same PC

Issue is how to set up separate iTunes music between two separate iTunes accounts on the same PC.

Currently I have 2 different laptop PCs each with a different iTunes account; one PC for my wife’s music and one PC with my music. What I want to do is have my wife’s music and my music reside on the same PC separated by our own iTunes account.

On the laptop where my wife’s music resides and logging in to my iTunes account using my Apple ID I took one of my CD’s and loaded the music into the iTunes library. When I went to look at what was loaded I saw the CD that I loaded and the music I previously loaded for my wife. It appears, after connecting my iPhone to the PC, that if I try and sync my CD to my iPhone it will also sync her music and that’s not what I want. I don’t want to see her music on my device or vise versa.

So the question is this possible? If so how can I accomplish this? I seems like you should be able to accomplish this. Not everyone has two PC’s to work with.

it is somewhat easier to manage multiple Apple IDs in multiple user profiles, as each profile can have its own default library and be signed into its own account. Even there there are a complications as only one account can be active for automatic downloads. See this recent post Re: 90 Day To Download Past Purchases. Managing everything in more profile means signing out and in of the iTunes store as well as manually switching between libraries.

Thanks! I assume that that by creating a new library I would also have to assign my Apple ID so that it knows which library to work with. Once the library is created I would load my CD's into that library. Now if my wife wants to load additional CD's to her library she just logs into iTunes with her Apple ID. I would also assume that we need to be in the correct iTunes account for this to work? Is my thinking correct? I hope I made my self clear if not please let me know. Thanks again.
