Anyone have any experience with MCE Technologies SSDs?

I am not familiar with this brand, but found it when I was looking for SSD upgrade options for my 2015 rMBP.

Before anyone chimes in that this voids the warranty, I am going to get the drive upgraded at an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

My only question is whether this is a good company to deal with for SSDs?

Thanks

Ya, OWC was the one I was thinking about originally.

This one popped up under OWC in Google search, the main reason it caught my attention was because of their read/write speed claim over OWC, which was closer to the read/write speed of the Apple SSDs in the 2015 MBP.

This company really is a mystery, I was asking about it on other social platforms and didn't get any responses.

I'll take your advice and ask the AASP. Thanks.

My only experience with them was ordering a kit some years ago to replace my optical drive with a hard drive for my pre-unibody 3,1 17" MBP. There was a kit for the computer and an external enclosure for the optical drive. The kit for my Mac has worked like a champ--I now have twin Scorpio Black WD drives in it, and I can easily boot from either drive. It's harder to evaluate the optical drive enclosure because the optical drive was having problems. The enclosure actually seems fine too, since the optical drive worked just as well in the enclosure as it did in the Mac. At the time, OWC didn't have a kit for my Mac, but MCE did. But I have never ordered or had any experience with a drive from them. They have been around since 1993, and according to their company profile, they have been involved with Apple products since the beginning.

It might be instructive to call both OWC and MCE and ask each how their products compare with the competition.

Good luck! Whichever you get, you'll enjoy the greater capacity.

I decided I am going to go with MCE, OWC customer service is very good and reliable but I can't ignore the improved speed offered by MCE. It is $50 more but I figure it is worth it for the extra speed and they do seem to have been around a while so I'll take the chance with them.

My preference originally was to get the 1TB Apple SSD from an AASP, but it is so expensive ($1500) that there is no way I could justify paying so much.

Hey there

Did you buy the SSD from MCE Tech finally? How is this performing? Did you have any problem in getting the order from MCE Tech? I found some reviews in internet about the bad service team they have. People were saying that they ordered it and could not get it after several weeks/months and finally they had to lodge complain against them in PayPal/Credit Card company. How was your experience? I am thinking to buy one SSD for my MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Mid 2014) from them.

Thanks in advance for help.
