+1 for douchiest reply possible. Why can't I just give my password? Oh, because someone might have my password? In that case, it's easy to just have them choose to text themselves the passcode. Voila, the thief is in. But simple users don't know what they're getting into when they choose two-step verification. Nothing is made clear up front. But it's clearly harder for me to get in than for a thief.
Sorry, you should have thought about that before agreeing to upgrade your account security. As LACAllen already said, when you have two factor and start account recovery, nobody, not even Apple Support supervisors, can expedite the process.
Edit: Account recovery is a last resort option. If you forgot the password to your account, use your iphone or ipad and just go to settings, icloud, and tap on your apple id, then select change password. If that doesnt work and you forgot the password, then you can still try to request a phone call or text message to a trusted phone number to reset a forgotten password
I'm on the same boat and had spoken to 3 apple support but the golden piece of advise is TO WAIT, waiting for something that you didn't have an idea when will come as there is no concrete information of the turn around time.
Well Account Recovery depends on how much information you have provided. It is a first come first serve basis for anyone who might have set up recovery and waiting before you. As soon as they verify you as the account holder, they will message you with how to get back into your account. They take security very high, anyone could get access to your phone and say they are you...

I feel you, I have been waiting for more than a week now and nothing has been done.
I've provided proof of purchase and everything, I'd expect it to be immediate. But if nothing is done in a week I'm going back to T-Mobile and asking them for a new sim.
i realize that a new sim won't help 😂
