Adobe Flash Player

This is the second time that Adobe Flash player comes up on my screen and notifies me of an update. It goes through the process and then says "installation failed" Why can't I download the update?

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), macOS Sierra (10.12.1)

You really are better off not using Adobe Flash Player at all. Apple will automatically block outdated versions of Adobe Flash Player, but phony "installers" are commonly used as a ruse for malware intrusion. Please read Beware bogus Adobe Flash "installers".


My recommendation is to uninstall it according to Adobe's instructions. They are linked in that document. If you find that you cannot live without it, you can always reinstall it.
