I have overwritten a Word file on my MAC and want to recover it. Can I recover from iCloud history somehow?

If you have just recently deleted it, your chances are better of retrieving it. I'm sure you've looked, but the very first place to look is in the waste paper basket. Both on Windows and under OSX. As long as you haven't emptied it, your file(s) will still be there. But I assume you've done that. (If you haven't read the guide here https://www.cisdem.com/resource/word-recovery-best-way-to-recover-word-file-from -sd-card-on-mac-available-to-word-2016.h…)

The next step depends on where the file was stored. If on a network drive, then you have a problem that a file you delete won't go into your local waste paper basket (but depending, I think, on the configuration there may be a waste paper basket on the network drive). But if it's a company network drive, then there will certainly be regular (like 24-hour) backups being made of it. Companies are terrified (understandably) of loss of critical data. Your support team can help you retrieve the file from a backup.

Personally, I think data recovery software should be only a last resort, because the completeness of the data you can retrieve depends on how long it was deleted and whether the space previously occupied by your file has been overwritten with new data or not.
