This is horrible. I'm working and 'bird' is taking over cpu bandwidth. I can't stop it. My computer gets slow as a duck. I don't want that, I want it to be as fast as a swallow!

Also that horrible 'cloudd' process is making my day grey! I want schedule myself when the computer is backing up to the cloud. Can't it just ask me: "May I proceed backing up to cloud or shall I wait a little?"

I suppose it could if it was coded into the OS.
You can always sign out of iCloud and re-enable it when you want.
FWIW, 'bird' appears to be part of iCloud services.
