Help!!!!
I'm trying to restore all my info that was backed up to my computer through itunes from an iphone 5 to an iphone 7.
It keeps bringing up the error message that it could not be restored because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone that is being restored.
What can i do?

I had this same issue and was very nervous I had a corrupt file on my old iPhone (6s). It ended up being a software update issue! I always kept my previous iPhone updated but the new iPhone (7) I purchased was not updated. Once I updated the new iPhone, I was able to restore it from iTunes!

My first thought was that it didn't work because I had tried to back up my old phone after I had changed my number to the new phone. Apparently, that does not cause an issue.

hi how did you update the software, i'm having the same issue but my software is upto date.
Hi there,
You need to set up your phone as new, update your software from the phones setings, and then try the restore again. Worked for me - hopefully it does for you also.

I had this same error, I had to make sure my phone had the latest version, and also my iTunes and then it worked for me!

turned out to be an iOS version difference for me. Once i upgraded the iPhoneX to the latest iOS things worked
Hi guys, if you read above and via prior posts, this simply means update your new device prior to restoring it from your former ones so everything is compatible ~
