How do I remove JS:Nimda-B [Trj]?

Hello,

I have a Mac that's currently running Sierra 10.12.3, and use AVG Antivirus. Last night I scanned my computer, and detected a threat called JS:Nimda-B [Trj]. I was unable to move it to quarantine or delete it through the application. I do not know where I downloaded it from, but I have only detected it recently.

I found little information as to what to do to remove it. I tried the only fix I found, to uninstall and reinstall the software, and after doing so JS:Nimda-B [Trj] is still there and I remain unable to delete it.

Is there any software that is capable of deleting it, should I attempt manual deletion? What can I do, other than be more careful, to protect my computer in future?

Many thanks.

iMac, iOS 10.2.1

No, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac won't detect that, because it's not Mac malware. That's a malicious JavaScript, probably found in your browser's cache. It was probably found on some site that you visited, and was already run in your browser, leaving your Mac no worse for it. It may have done something like display a scam pop-up or something similar, or may have attempted to infect your machine via Windows vulnerabilities (which would not work on your Mac).

You can safely ignore this. If you clear your browser's caches, that should make it go away.
