Airprint vs USP printer drivers

does Airprint in Sierra include all the printer features included the USB print drivers? How about ethernet connections; what kind of drivers do they use? We may be heading there.

Had nasty experience recently with Epson where Airprint drivers dumbed down the printer capability and it took me forever to figure out what was wrong. Epson website gave no hint. USB connection was the fix.

The printer features I am concerned about are the detailed ones buried in the printers options that you access when printing photos on expensive paper.

Thanks for stories of your experiences

I've changed the way I set up my printers using Sierra and El Capitan. I do not do auto anything if I can. I now use "add printer or scanner" to get to the "real" printer software, real meaning the latest and proper printer driver, the UTiLITY and other features you can get in printer set up. Once you select add then choose the printer kind and then do not choose AirPrint or secure air print but choose under USE the entire printer name. Then select Add.
