Apple TV 4 green hue on home screen (dark mode)

Just today I noticed my Apple TV 4 which I've had for over a year has a kind of green hue on the home screen when in dark mode the background looks almost military green. I've tried a restart of my unit and tested my other Apple TV 4 units I own and they don't have his issue. I just noticed this after updating to the newest TVOS that was released yesterday. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this issue? Thinking this might be a software issue since I have no discoloration when using any apps like Netflix. I only notice this green hue on the home screen when the unit is in dark mode. Any help is appreciated thanks!

For me the green was everywhere in the interface. The main app screen had a green tint instead of neutral gray. I am extremely aware of the slightest 1% tint change off of a neutral gray because my lifelong career is digital photo retouching, and I calibrate my TV almost as accurately as I calibrate my retouching computer screen. This tint was more of a 20% shift as opposed to a slight 1% shift towards green. My first action was to restart the Apple TV, and that immediately reset whatever was wrong.

Hi Bill Costello. The HDMI output from Apple TV is "perfect". Changing the software won't alter it. You might check the TV set white balance adjustments for the HDMI input you're using. They may need adjustment as the TV ages.

Thanks Diana. The green hue was only on the background of the neutral dark gray "dark" UI setting.

It happened instantly after I came home after 4 days to find the AppleTV had switched off on its own. Strangely last night when I returned home it had fixed itself. Guess it was a glitch but when you google dark green background on AppleTV, there are a lot of people who have had something similar happen.

This just happened to my Apple TV... Wondering if the other 14 of you were able to get rid of the dark green background by resetting your AppleTV to factory settings?

I’m having the same issue. Hmmm, I do notice that the screensaver is a picture of a really green field (landscape photo) though. I wonder if the opaqueness of some of the OS is affecting the background to where you can see a little of it beyond? Guess I check tomorrow when a new screensaver is used to see if I have the same issue....

Disconnect one of your HDMI cables from one of the other Apple TVs and use it to test this Apple TV. If the problem persists try taking the Apple TV and connect it to another TV to eliminate the problem possibly being the TV. If the problem persists try resetting the Apple TV by following these instructions.

The TV color balance changes as the set warms up. The colors can be slightly off when the TV is cold. Glad you've resolved it.
