Using mp3 songs on iphone with Linux Laptop
My question is very simple:
I have an Ubuntu 14.04 Laptop with many mp3 songs. I want them to copy on an iphone 6, iOS 10.2.1 and be able to listen to that music.
How can I do this?

So you managed to install Wine and iTunes? If you did when you connect the iPhone it will open iTunes which will present you with options as to what you want to sync (this would be after you add the songs to your Library). You can sync songs, playlists, Genres, artists, etc. to your heart's content. It will not keep your folders but you can easily create playlists which will accomplish the same thing in a much smaller space and more control over syncing.
If this is just temporary you might want to just sync everything and create playlists on the iPhone. Then when you get your new smartphone (Galaxy 8?) you can load everything to the new phone and zap the iTunes Library. And Wine.
Yes I know I am stupid. I don't even know how to use iTunes to copy files to an iphone6! But maybe your intellect can answer this simple question? How can I copy a set of mp3 songs I have on my computer to the iphone...?
Aehm, no. There are no options with as to what I want to sync. Nothing. Nada.
Oh I have to recreate the folders I already have as playlist? Yes sure, I have nothing better to do!!
Also I don't want to sync everything, just selected folders. But the folders are gobe in iTunes, there are all music pieces in ONE SINGLE list.
Yes, when I get a new smartphone (a real one), I can do things a thousand times faster. No joking, it WILL BE a thousand times faster. REALLY
The instructions don't work. They say: "Connect your device to your computer using the included USB cable. Your connected device appears as an icon in the upper-left corner of the iTunes window." But this does not happen...
And most of the music is not ID3 tagged.
Simplest way? It just does not work! It just does not work! Not sure how I can be more simple that that?
The iphone is not recognized. The folder structure is gone. And I cannot even import a folder. Because it just does not work....!! Really this is all crap...
Are you actually wanting help or are you wanting to brag that the smartphones you have used are better than iPhones? I have sincerely attempted to help you from the very start of this thread and did not include any attitude. If you have installed iTunes on your computer and you have connected your iPhone, and it was recognized, the music tab does give you choices on syncing.
Does iTunes open at all? Again, which version? And what iOS version is on the iPhone.
If you buy a music player be sure to check that it works with Linux or if they require an app (several do) that it has a Linux version. The cheaper model you buy the less likely it is you will need an app and the more likely it will talk to Linux.
It's not working because your unsupported OS and Wine can't hack it. Stop beating a dead horse. Try installing Windows in a VM and install iTunes on that. If that still doesn't work, then either try asking somewhere else... like a linux focused forum, or go get yourself a Windows PC. Or install Windows on your machine. Or buy a cheap MP3 player.
You can't, you need iTunes to move them to your iPhone. You could look into Wine on your computer to allow you to run the Windows version of iTunes.
I will give it a try. Because my other phone broke, I have to use the company's iphone. I NEVER thought an iphone is that useless...
An iPhone isn't useless at all. There is a price to pay when you make the choice to use an OS that's outside of the mainstream.
Pay double the price for half the usage? Who is that stupid?
Sorry. Don't know what you're ranting about. Double the price for what? The phone? The iPhone isn't substantially more or less expensive than other phones in its class.
Yes. good idea. Solve a problem I wouldn't had with android 😁
Whatever. You can have your security nightmare that is Android.
I appreciate your attempt to help - but I am still far from transferring music to my iphone. So if you have further suggestions, I would like to hear them. But REAL help would be nice,....
