Depending on the build model version year of iMac G3 (slot-load optical drive vs. tray-load, etc)

and processor version, among other details, your iMac G3 may be able to use the hard to get

iMac Firmware Update 4.1.9. {Note: The computer must be running an installed Mac OS 9.1 or

9.2 system from internal hard drive location for this firmware update to work.}

All the old links to that item (in Apple Support sites) appear to no longer function and searches

don't provide workable link or correct pages. ~ I found a mirror that someone offers and it does

appear to work; shows correct file name & size for iMac_FWUpdate_4.1.9.smi.bin (1.2MB) binary:

iMac Firmware 4.1.9 - mrjcd

http://mrjcd.com/iMac_firmware_update_4.1.9/

There may be other(?) sites with correct mirror of this file. However if your iMac G3 is older, it may

not support Tiger 10.4, or if it has an CD-only optical drive, it won't be able to use DVD media.

And for the older iMac G3, a different firmware update of lower number series its last update.

Good luck & happy trails! 🙂

Thank you for posting; was unable to locate this. Original old bookmark

didn't forward to Apple's-archived page. Not sure why, but some don't.

The other 'archived source' is correct, I've downloaded & opened it.

Somewhere I'd saved the .bin firmware update because my iMac 400DV

needed to have 4.1.9 to upgrade past Jaguar 10.2.x. The option without

firmware upgrade would be display to go black and dysfunction to occur.

Thanks again...! 🙂
