Cellular data not working after iOS 10.3 update

I have a very perplexing problem:
After 10.2 update, cellular data became extremely flaky. (iPhone 7, T-Mobile) In some apps it didn't work at all, in others it would work for about a 10 second window after toggling Airplane Mode. The amount of cell signal doesn't doesn't matter. Turning off LTE and using 4G doesn't help.

To fix, I tried to:

  • reset network settings (didn't work)
  • fresh restore (didn't work)
  • Apple ran diagnostics (phone passed, Genius Bar had no idea what to do)

So they gave me a new iPhone 7. And it worked.

But now, with the new phone, the same exact thing has happened immediately after the 10.3 update. This is not my imagination, it is a night-and-day difference immediately after the update, just like last time.

My phone isn't jailbroken, I don't use a VPN, iOS betas, just a totally standard phone. This problem doesn't seem to be widespread, so how has it happened to me twice? It's totally confounding.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

I’m about to “nuke” my iPhone (as this is obviously the last resort but I can’t take it anymore.) My question is in regards to the backup. I’ve made a backup in both iTunes on my laptop, and an iCloud backup. You said the phone has to be set-up as new, so I’m wondering if after that and then using a backup to put all my stuff back on it is going to defeat the purpose of “nuking” it and setting it up all over again as new??? Help! lol

I'm also facing the same problem. Since i updated ios 10.3 my cellular data is not working. I tried switching to airplane mode and after 30sec back to normal mode then it works, but once i make a voice call and finish it, it again lost the data connectivity. Wifi is working fine, once i switch off my wifi it again shows no connection of cellular data, no sign of 4G or LTE or GPRS or Edge.

Its really annoying. Apple please sort this issue out soon as possible.

Finally got a fix, and it's the nuclear option.

I had to set up as a new iPhone, so now l have to reinstall all my apps, and figure out all their respective logins. Can't wait to reset all of my accounts with device specific two factor authentication set up.

And it also means I've lost all my health data and all my settings.

Huge pain. Don't worry Apple, I'll just quit my job and give my kids up for adoption so I can devote some time to this.

April 5/2017 I bought a brand new iPhone 6S plus froM Fido Store.

Everything worked fine inside the store mind you I never checked to see if internet was working cause it was all fine on their WiFi.

Till I got home sync with my MacBook & had to go to work for my night shift; As soon as I tried to go online while @ work, Fido's message comes on about buying data for $5, $10, $15, etc..... so weird when I have unlimited data!

I'll be taking my iPhone 6S Plus back to Fido store first thing tomorrow morning & will update everyone as soon as I've fixed this issue.

What a pain in our already busy life over a cell phone; This is a Joke Fido.

Good afternoon everyone:

Update from our perspective..... my dad has iphone 6, i have new iphone 7+. Two other family members have iphone 7+ and 6+. When my dad and I updated to iOS 10.3 we had the following issues emerge: Problems connecting to network, battery life went caput, etc. I spent a total of 13 hours fixing this phone with Verizon..... factory reset, insertion of new SIM card, etc. I ended up backing the phone up to my MAC and icloud before having to a factory reset. If that doesn't fix it, he'll have to have a new phone. Hope this helps. Verizon seems to be aware of the issue as well. If your phone is under warranty, it may have to be replaced. Good luck!

This problem started for me today. I have an iPhone SE running 10.3.2 and today (coincidentally...) when I called my phone carrier to change my plan to not have data anymore just have a simple voice plan, my data stopped working altogether. I had it arranged that my data would cease on June 19, so I called the company back immediately and thought they just put in the order to cease data usage early, but they said no it should still be working. I made four different phone calls to my carrier and each person had me do some diagnostics (resetting the Network Settings, toggling the cellular data, restarting etc) to no avail. Then I just did completely wiped my phone and set it up as a new phone, and it still doesn't work. I keep getting a popup that says "Could not activate cellular data network, you are not subscribed to a cellular data service." But yet, four different reps at the carrier said yes, I have an active data plan. The only thing they could tell me to do was pay out my contract or send it for repairs, $300+ for 'repairs' they quoted me and advised I simply upgrade and pay out my remaining contract which is only half completed. I'm incredibly frustrated by this, I do not have the income or the time to deal with this. I need this phone to contact my family who all live hundreds of miles away. Please, please come up with a solution soon. My wifi doesn't autoconnect anymore, and my phone continuously flashes from "No Service" to 4 bars so calls are unpredictable.

I am facing the exact same problem right this minute. I was on my phone last night close to 12 midnight and I woke up at like 2 in the morning to see my phone say "Connet to cellular data or turn on Wi-Fi"... Just within that hour my phone is messed up. And what makes me frustrated is that it says my cellular data is on and it has LTE.

Same issue here: No cell connection in Europe during a recent trip, very annoying, then, after endless tinkering with cellular roaming on and off, I got sporadic functionality. After return to the US, the first i-message I sent failed. A few days later I received a message from my boss (regular cell phone) ca. 6 hours (!!) after it had been sent. I could have lost my job for not responding.

Next were three visits to the Sprint store who performed all sorts of resets. During the last visit they checked my phone and found that it works fine. Of course, it does not work fine, and all the time I blamed Sprint, only to find out today that Apple messed this up with their new fabulous iOS10. JUNK! Amazing, the Spring people did not know about this issue, since it seems to be all over the place affecting anybody with iOS10.

For me, a cell phone is a tool, and I do not intend to spend 1/2 my life trying to make it work. If Apple can't make this work, they completely lost my trust.

I tried everything that others have said worked and I had no luck. I went to the AT&T store and they told me that I was out of luck, if after erasing everything and reinstalling the newest update to OS that didn't fix the problem. I asked if this sim caed would work in my old iPhone 5 (I have iPhone 6 with issues). The suppoet person didn't know, but decided to try a new sim card in my phone, stating that she didn't think it would help. GUESS WHAT? Her mouth dropped open, when my data use came back as soon as my iphone was turned back on. My voicemail and text messaging was also fixed.

I don't know if this will help anyone else, but a new sim card is a small price

to pay for a fully functioning cell phone (I was given the new sim card at no cost to me, too, but the sim card I had was only about four months old). Good Luck!
