?Q: MacOS 10.12.4 update - iMac contacts missing
?Q: MacOS 10.12.4 update - iMac contacts missing
Hi-
I updated my iMac (iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) to macOS sierra v10.12.4 (16E195); I installed the Combo update; Install Date: 3/27/17, 1:40 PM.
Ever since, the native “Contacts” application on my iMac won’t load the contacts on my desktop, altho I can still access them on my iPhone 6s and on iCloud via Safari [v10.1 (12603.1.30.0.34)]. However, I noticed that after I edit a contact on my iPhone, it DOES show up on my iMac when I open the “Contacts” app.
The “Mail” app is also acting weird; it keeps asking if I want to add an “unknown email address” - but that's my primary me.com email address on my iMac, as well as the primary email address I use on my iPhone (since my mac.com email address is also my Apple ID, I’ve reserved it and use me.com as primary on my devices).
The System Preferences on my iMac shows that I haven’t enabled two-factor authentication; I haven’t had time to install the latest update on my iPhone 6s yet (iOS 10.3), so I wasn’t ready to start two-factor authentication; however, I’m not sure if this is related.
In the systems report for my iMac under “frameworks”, only “ContactsAssistantServices” shows that it was last modified on 3/27/17, 1:36 PM, which was the date of my v10.12.4 update.
All other “frameworks” related to “Contacts” or “AddressBook” show “Last Modified” date as: 11/6/16, 7:25PM
However, in the systems report under “Applications” the following show “Last Modified” date as 3/27/17, 1:40PM:
“Contacts” app; AddressBookManager; AddressBookSourceSync; AddressBookSync; AddressBookUrlForwarder.
I saw a post in Apple support w/instructions to look online in iCloud settings and “restore contacts” from iCloud; however, since there are several versions, I didn’t want to restore from the version that's on my iMac, because it’s empty. In iCloud, it shows I have 3075 contacts, which is probably correct.
Any help would be most appreciated!!
thx!! amy
