MacOS 10.12.4 Graphic Glitches

Hey Guys,

I'm having an random Graphical Glitches on my Macbook early 2015 13" connected to my Dell external display.

You can see it here: https://youtu.be/7b37OmwBE-4

I was able to recreate this issue on this app. But it is happening on all applications from time to time (mostly after fast graphic changes).

I run the Mac Diagnostic and it turned out I have no issues with my mac. I tried the Dell screen with other computers and there is no issue.

I also saw this issue on the following video of someone esle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA1lvm7I_EQ

One or 2 times my full screen was full of colors mixed, after reconnecting the hdmi cable it was fixed again.

If anyone has also experience with this issue or an fix or any idea how to test more.

Please let me know.

I have the same issue problem - on internal Macbook display and on external display as well. It happens radomly across all apps, especially in case fast movements like video, scrolling, switching tabs in Safari. When I restart Macbook, the issue disappear for some time, but after some time it appears again. When Macbook is connected to external display and the lid is closed, the problem appears in short time after restart. When I open the lid, flickering disappears, wierd.

Example video (most visible around time 0:07s)

I attach screenshots where issues are highligted.

I tried reset SMC, NVRAM. I tried to close all potential apps. I tried Diagnostic mode. I tried to create new user to prevent it's issue of my account settings. Nothing helps. Issue is still here.

I notice that it could be caused by the last update of macOS 10.12.4.

My machine: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015), 3,1 GHz i7, 16GB, Intel Iris 6100

macOS Sierra, 10.12.4.

Thanks for any help and advice if it's SW or HW issue. Dou think that clean install of system can help?

Hi Eric,

Apple Care did actually reached out to me after only posting this thread with my video and image attached.

So I was glad I was seeing that. If I encounter this Issue again I should run a Sysdiagnose and send them the results.

But since you are a more common Apple Discussion user (you got a lot of points) I would also recommend everyone above me to submit the Feedback.

Glad to see other users react to this. I was really afraid it had anything to do with hardware.

Similar issues here after updating to 10.12.4 on MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015). Have an external monitor connected typically (as an extra screen), but seems to happen on the built in display, not the external monitor in my case. Mostly happening when there is some sort of cursor movement, scrolling, typing, or video playing. Here's a still example of the white boxes I'm seeing briefly on a video that's not currently playing, just on cursor movement.

Hello!

I have exactly this problem with my MBA 11 (2015) after installing MacOS 10.12.4. Apple Support told me they didn't aware about this issue and gave me a workaround that worked for me.

Try to reset NVRAM following this guide:

How to reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

NOTE: When I change the screen resolution the problem reappears, but I can reset NVRAM again.

Good luck!!

I sent too.

I recognized that it happens especially when my Macbook is connected to external monitor. When the lid is closed, glitches appear. When the lid is opened, glitches disappears. When I disconnect Macbook from external monitor, sometimes glitches appear also on internal Macbook's display. When I restart Macbook, everything is ok. So, if I don't want to see glitches, I have to leave Macbook's lid opened when it's connected to external monitor.

It could be some SW issue of switching GPU between external/internal monitor or something similar.

Hi guys,

I also have the exact same problem on my MB Pro 13" 2015 model with a external monitor connected thru HDMI.

Tried everything "as far as I know ofc" even did a clean install which didn't solve the problem.

One strange thing I did notice "wandering if any of you guys did too"

Usually when booting up my system, I'll wait with closing the lid of my MB till everything is loaded and the external monitor is activated but this morning for some reason...changed up my routine and turned on my monitor first, then powered on my MB, typed my password and immediately closed the lid of my MB even before I saw the loading / progress bar on the internal display. And to my surprise I don't see any glitches anymore what so ever. I tested / repeated this way of booting up my system for at least 10 times and no glitches to be found.

Has anyone tried this as well ?
