Callers hear their voice echo if I take/make calls using Apple Watch

I'm having a bit of an annoying issue with using my Apple Watch for telephone calls and wondered if anyone has experienced the same issue?

When I either receive or make a call from my Apple Watch (which is a Series 2 running the latest software). The person I am talking to, tells me that they can hear an echo of what they have just said, and this then makes it difficult for them to hear what I am saying.

I have also spoke to someone via a landline, and they tell me that the echo is there too.

The weird thing is. While I am on a telephone call and the person on the other end mentions about the echo, if I then hand the call off on to my iPhone (iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 10.3 installed) the person tells me the echo has gone.

I was wondering if anyone has been able to get to the bottom of this issue?

I cannot really say how long this issue has been going on, apart from it wasn't there when I got the Apple Watch back in December.

After the 3.2 update my Apple Watch also developed the echo my brother will not talk to me if i call him from it he says it is unbearable to listen to.

P.S. I have put every update on since 3.2 with no change in the echo problem.

Yeah I've done the same since 3.2 (putting all of the updates on) but the problem still persists.

My fear is now, I think the very least when this issue could potentially be fixed is when WatchOS 4 comes out, which could be September, October time. Totally unacceptable if Apple do not get this fixed till then.

Question...Has anyone sent in their watch to be analyzed by Apple? I would do so but I'm still running 3.1.3 after trade in.

I was at target the other day and asked an associate if they were having the same issue as reported here. She said no, that she was running the latest software and did not have this issue.

Can it be the Watch at this point? If it was a software issue, wouldn't Apple have made it a priority to fix? I mean it seems like only a few are having this issue.

I would advise you to keep your watch on 3.1.3 until its mentioned on this thread that Apple has fixed this software bug.

I know people on this thread have got their Apple Watch replaced and the replacement had 3.1.3 on it and the echo issue was not there. Once they had updated to 3.2, the echo issue returned, showing that it is a software bug introduced with 3.2.

I know it was mentioned that some people who did not have the Series 2 Apple Watch, didn't suffer this echo issue, so perhaps the associate doesn't have an Series 2.

If it were the watch, the echo issue would have been there since new. I and others have had the Series 2 since just after launch and they did not have the echo. I know personally that I done around 2 or 3 software updates on my watch prior to the 3.2 update. All the software updates I performed (before 3.2) did not introduce the echo issue. I think perhaps the software bug is something to do with the hardware that's in the Series 2 (but I hasten to add not a fault with the hardware) and the software that is in 3.2.

Apple seem more interested/busy at this time, with other software etc (the announced iOS 11, WatchOS 4, MacOS High Sierra and other new products in the pipeline).

The echo issue has been reported to Apple and they are indeed aware of it. Perhaps with WatchOS 4, they might be a fix. It would be interesting to know if WatchOS 4 does fix the issue, but the only people who have access to WatchOS 4 at this time are developers and they are not allowed to disclose any information about the software if I correct.

Its a real pity that Apple do not allow us to rollback to an earlier version of the Watch software, thus solving the issue.

I am also having this problem, was looking here for help, or suggestions for what to do. I have taken the watch back 2 times, now on my 3rd watch. I have not updated it, it is still echoing on the callers end. I did update the others and it didn't fix the problem. That was the suggestion I got before taking the last watch back. I really have no idea what else to do. Just wait? Take it back again? HELP!

Last update seems to solve this issue (watch os 3.2.3). I had two calls today from watch to watch with no echo. I will test with other devices to confirm.

Yes with the 3.2.3 update I get no echo to. I made/received two calls today on my Apple Watch and I specifically asked the callers if there was any echo on the calls and they both said no. Previously with these two callers, they have both complained of getting the annoying echo issue. I will keep monitoring with other callers. I just hope WatchOS 4 doesn't break the fix again 😮

Thank you Apple 🙂

joining to echo club..😠 week "old" watch

I had the echo issue since updating my watch to WatchOS 3.2 (which has been a few months).

Anyhow, I updated to the latest WatchOS which was released yesterday and this is WatchOS 3.2.3 and this has stopped the echo issue. If you haven't done so, update your Watch software and this should solve the issue.

Same issue. Happened after latest updates to iOS and WatchOS. Got a replacement watch and same issue.

Is Apple looking into this as a software issue and a fix yet?

For myself and others on this thread. The WatchOS 3.2.3 which was released yesterday has fixed the echo issue. If you have updated to WatchOS 3.2.3 then I can't understand why you are still getting the echo issue.
