I have just installed IoS 10.3. At the top of the settings screen there is a red number (1) by Update Apple ID Settings. I have done everything required, but the red number won't go away. Does this matter?

Also, I notice that when I go Settings>tap my name>scroll down there is a list of my devices. If I try to remove my old iPhone 6, I go through the process and nothing happens - it is still there. (My old one went wrong and was replaced at the Apple store).
I suspect the problem is that I returned the old iPhone 6 to the Apple Store as it had a frozen screen. The store couldn't get it to work and replaced it. I therefore no longer have the device.
In iTunes (third point above) I can only deauthorise all the devices, not just the old iPhone 6.
In iCloud (first point above) I have removed the old iPhone 6
In the Find My iPhone app (second point above) the old iPhone 6 isn't listed, just a generic "iPhone" which is offline.
The red badge with number 1 is still there on the Settings icon on the phone.
There must be a proper solution to this problem, which seems to have been caused by me installing 10.3
I'm having the same, or similar issue... Apple keeps asking me to update my settings by asking me to verify with another device. I've been able to do this, but the little wheel just keeps spinning and won't let me authenticate... Super frustrating.
I had this same (frustrating) problem as well, in spite of resetting my phone, etc.
I eventually resolved it by going to Manage your Apple ID https://appleid.apple.com/ and turning off two-factor authorization. I'm really not sure how it got turned on after the last update.

About this matter, the solution is access to Find IPhone application in your iPhone, then fill up your username and password. After that access to setting--> tap on red tag. Done
I had this issue when using 10.3.3 and ios 11 was pending. Then I remembered something about "the update would be applied when the device had external power". After I connected power, even though it was fully charged before that, the update then immediately proceeded.
Curious. I have done that, but the badge is still there. The software is up to date (iOS10.3).
Does it matter?

Just checked this morning. The old iPhone 6 is still showing on the phone. It is also still showing on appleid.apple.com. so clearly it is not being removed at all.
I have now tried to remove the old iPhone 6 three times. Each time it looks OK but it is still there. This must be a part of the problem....?

Hopefully you'll eventually be able to get that defective iPhone off your equipment list, then you'll be all set.

Thanks for the tip. By dint of perseverance I have sorted out the problem. The clinching factor was when Apple released iOS 10.3.1 which showed it was a bug.
