How to re-install iPhoto

I just had to reinstall OS X back onto my MacBook Pro & I would love to have the iPhoto app just like before. So if somebody knows how I could reinstall iPhoto without having to pay, (that would be wonderful).

iPhoto is no longer supported. It is possible to re-download it if the one you had was the last version. See the following:

Re: Is Iphoto gone? i want it back!

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1 If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash. Install the App from the App Store. Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall? iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto program. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

iPhoto is no longer developed for OS X. The Photos app is it's successor.

If you already own iPhoto and it's in your Store ID you may still be able to download versions 9.6.1.which is compatible with OS X versions 10.10.3 or later, but I'm not entirely sure it will run in 10.12.x.

If you do not have it associated with your ID it may no longer be available at all from Apple.
