Phone ringing Loud using carplay

Hi

I have found other forums with people asking this question but no real answer or solution, so I'm asking here.

Problem occurs when my iPhone 6S or my partner's iPhone SE is connected to our 2016 Hyundai Accent with CarPlay. Half the time when the phone rings, the ringer volume will be excruciatingly high. So suddenly high it makes you jump, nearly having a car crash. I've tried adjusting the volumes on the phone and nothing seems to work. I've called the dealerships and they believe it's an problem with either apple's iOS software or CarPlay software.

I've read other forums online where people have the same problems - these people have aftermarket headunits and other car manafacturer stock head units, which leads me to conclude it's our car manafacturer, Hyundai's fault.

I'd like to hear who else has this problem and if anyone (or Apple) has a solution!

CarPlay is really handy, but if this problem persists then we'll be deactivating it and running through Bluetooth.

So why not try this right now and check the ringing volume?

I predict the volume will remain loud. Perhaps your Hyundai has a control to adjust this.

Well, you won't get an answer here from Apple. This is a user to user support forum, and Apple does not participate here. I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited with CarPlay and have not experienced a problem. I'm able to adjust the ringer volume on the vehicle with the car. I cannot test it right now, it is out for an oil change, but I can test it again later to see if I can remember any additional settings, since it has been a "set it and forget it" issue for me.

I have a 2017 VW Golf GTI and I have the same issue. When the phone rings I am able to turn the volume down with either the volume knob on the radio or steering wheel controls. However when I disconnect the phone and then reconnect the volume is reset to an excruciating level. I have looked through all of the settings I can find on both the phone and the car and I have checked the user manual, which was no help at all. I like Apple CarPlay but can't use it without deafening myself and passengers.
