Hey guys,
So I did a check on my 2 year old iPhone 6S battery.
As you can see it now reached 400 cycles of its life. With this information, I still think a battery does not stop performing for 40h and then suddenly in the next day or so starts being usable for only 5h. Plus, says a battery loses about 20% of it's capacity after 400 cycles and even though I believe that, my battery still shows 88% of it's capacity.
So, performing so badly cannot be the battery.
I went a little bit further and tried to profile my iPhone with XCode.
I found two processes that were consuming quite a lot of CPU and these are suggestd and mediaanalysisd.
It looks like these two processes are related to Siri/Search and Cloud/Photos. There is a indexer that takes care of our spotlight/siri searches, which keeps track of changes. So I went to the Siri&Search settings and tried to disable a few apps. Every time I did this I could see a spike in CPU for suggestd. But even after disabled quite a few apps it was not until I disabled Siri & Search inside Photos Settings and the Files inside Siri & Search that I stopped seeing so much CPU activity from these two system processes.
There must be a bug somewhere or a bad configuration. This started happening a few days after I upgraded my iPad to iOS11 when I was still in iOS10.3.3 on my phone. I only updated to iOS11 on Friday to see if it fixed the battery issues and it didn't. It might have to do with the amount of apps / media files we have and it could explain why is it not happening to everybody (I have a lot of apps apparently).
Just to recap, to those affected:
Cheers,
Marco
Hi, I just upgraded my Iphone 6+ to 10.3.3 and the battery drains in about 30 minutes! It does not recharge properly (sometimes it does not recharge at all) and so the phone is almost constantly off.. What to do?? Please fix this asap Apple.
More than likely being a 6 this is a failing battery
You can actually test the battery yourself by simply plugging it into your computer.
3uTools is a piece of software that can read the battery status from the phone much like Coconut battery does for Macbooks and Apple Products.
Most batteries in iPhone when over 400-600 charge cycles will start to lost capacity and or load ability. They either arent storing enough power or the cells cannot handle the amperage load put on them by the phone and decrease their power quickly.
These issues are also often accompanied by the phone turning off at random percentages not close to dead then the phone turning right back on when plugged in and showing a higher than dead battery charge.
Some times they can also be accompanied by heat or swelling of the battery causing discoloration on the left side of the screen or lifting of the screen.
Batteries are replaceable in these phones with a few minor tools or can be replaced at the apple store. Cheap batteries online tend not to last. If you choose a third part or DIY route make sure you use a good quality part to ensure the best outcome.

If it's a failing battery, why was it working just fine before the iOS 11 update, but not afterward? It seems to be too much of a conincidence to not implicate the iOS 11 release.
My car got a flat tire just after I updated my iPhone. There must be a relationship.

This forum is a first step where we seek to find a cheaper, more convenient ways (in terms of time and money) to deal with our issues.
Hardware problems generally need to be dealt with in person.
Sudden and dramatic hardware problems occurring immediately following iOS updates warrant cost free discussion with others before spending more money with Apple. Sorry if you don't like the implications.

Hardware problems can occur at any time on iPhones. Some percentage of iPhones are going to develop hardware problems around time of an upgrade. That's not an implication; it's statistics.
Something else to keep in mind, "Correlation doesn't prove causality". It may be an old maxim but it survives because its true. The human mind is evolved to find patterns in noise. The problem with that is that people sometimes see patterns where there are none. While this make keep you from getting eaten by a tiger, it isn't helpful when troubleshooting technology.
Dang. I've got to do something about my clumsiness.
I can remember many many years ago (don't ask) when I dropped a cigarette between my legs while driving and searched for it in a panic. Naturally, that's when a school bus passed me!
I have had exactly the same problem since the iOS 10.3.3 update, and have to walk around with a charging pack connected to phone. When I disconnect the battery runs dry immediately and the screen goes black, reconnect and it shows 0% battery charge then when opens sometimes it shows a 58% charge.
Two days ago I woke up and my iPhone 6S was turned off with no battery at all. Since then, I charge my iPhone and I can immediately see the battery percentage going down by the minute. I went to the Battery Usage in settings and saw there was a 40% usage of Mail App and I thought it was it but then I changed from percentage to time and it was only 10 minutes of background activity so this is not the cause.
There must be some process running in the background that is making this energy consumption. These internal processes do not appear in the Battery Usage so we don't know what is going on.
Something has definitely happened in the past week, a battery gradually loses it's performance over time, you won't do 2 days of battery and then suddenly in the next day it won't do 5 hours. This seems to be a software issue.
I'm situated here in France and have had same problem with iPhone 6, I contacted Apple support here in France through App and spoke to them through chat facility. I explained what was happening so we did the test through the Réglages, it came back with faulty worn out batterie. Now an appointment has been made for me, on Wednesday morning at the Apple Store in Nice...a replacement batterie cost 89,00 €...
I could charge my phone 1 time per day now i am at 3 times per day. Its automatic screen brightening and additional crap they added and reduction of user controls just leaves older 6 and 6s phones connected to a wall socket. funny how you go from 11.0.0 to 11.0.01 in days and i expect anther update from apple soon. For the first time this makes me think maybe i should just get away from Apple. Never in my life thought i say that but it seems they love to make older phones a piece of crap on a new release. Over there games they play. They say you can do so much more, well cant do crap when your phone is dead because you ran out of battery power....
I don't think you're the only Apple user that feels that way, however; the alternative to Apple is have a phone operated by Googles Android. Not only is the Android OS not as good as iOS, there are the privacy implications of Google spying on everything you do. So you get all their crappy advertising, and your email address sold to multiple **** vendors, who'll overload your inbox with crap you never asked for.
This is not helpful at all, the answer is IOS11 is killing the battery. 11.0.2 is even worse for battery drain, since the release of this new IOS my phone is constantly on change. Why wont apple re-instate 10.3 so customers can downgrade back to a stable IOS whilst apple get their act together.
I have Iphone 6 and my battery drains very fast. It chargws very fast and drains too fast when not in use.It drains 50% of battery in an hour approximately. How to solve this problem ?Can i please get some suggestions.
