TV shows not loading

Have been receiving "An error occurred loading this content", on my purchased tv shows and have not been able to load for days. Can you please help? I have restarted and restored with no improvement.

Thank you

Hi, I picked up a useful reply from another thread. Tried it myself and it improved the situation much. Here goes:

"Go to settings, apps, iTunes Movies and TV Shows, where it says Quick Start turn it to Off - Problem fixed. They said this is a problem they are investigating and are looking at a fix for this. "

Count me in. Older TV shows or movies work fine, but any new TV shows purchased since this past Monday (April 3rd), or that are part of a season pass triggers the same "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later." message on my second-gen AppleTV.

These shows play on my Mac and iPhone, but do not on my ATV. Streaming these new purchases from both devices where they do work through AirPlay (I thought might work as a workaround) does not work either, though older content does work fine this way.

I have tried all suggested fixed. I've removed all the cables for a few minutes. I restarted and did the soft reboot. I tried a different network. And lastly, I even did a whole restore to go back to factory defaults but that's not working either.

User uploaded fileSame thing is happening to me. Getting error that says "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later."

I've done all the suggested steps. I even called Apple on Sunday 4/8/2017 and spend time with support working on the issue. They had me access the episode from my phone and told me to try my Apple TV again in a day or two. No resolution other than just sit and wait.

Hey APPLE???? Fix the issue please! So many shows and movies I want to buy but I refuse to spend another dollar until it's fixed. Seriously thinking about switching to Amazon to buy my shows and movies going forward.

But this is your second post is it not?

User uploaded file

If the model number and the software version you quote are correct, then your Apple TV is an Apple TV 2. So you didn't correct yourself in your second post, but you did type in capitals despite what you have said in your last post. I'm not trying to belittle or berate anyone here, I'm just trying to ensure we have the facts. But your second post, in all honesty, does appear to (loudly) challenge the idea that the problem is limited to the Apple TV 2. I'm not suggesting you intentionally misled anyone, but you were quite vocal about a matter which you were ultimately mistaken about and then went on to say it doesn't matter.

The Apple TV 2 and 3 look identical from the outside.

Never used capitols in any of my posts except the last one....NOT and AND.

So again, granted this is a technical forum, there are those of us who do not have the level of your knowledge and are simply trying to find a fix for their problem.

Never intentionally mislead anyone and I corrected myself in the second post along with adding a picture in the third post. The back of my Apple TV matches the 3rd Gen box according to Apple:

SAME HERE! I have so many season passes and I must watch directly on my MacBook on ITunes - SO FRUSTRATING.

I've tried: restarting; I've restored over wifi; restored on my computer in ITunes; used my Apple TV over Ethernet; tried playing content on homeshare; tried playing content on ITunes on my MacBook and mirroring using Airplay - none of these solutions work. The only thing I can think of now is waiting for a fix over the next update (hopefully).

Same as all of you, anything released before April 3rd played fine then, and still plays fine. Anything released past that date cannot play. I own a 2nd Generation AP like most of you it seems... Is Apple phasing them out or something? It has the last update installed.

If anyone found a fix I'd love to hear about it!

This is also happening for me! I am an ExPat living temporarily in Australia and have never had a problem until last week's shows! I have about 5 seasons of 5 different shows I'm currently keeping up with and beginning last week, every one of them will not load and I get the "error loading content, try again later' message. I can watch them just fine on my iMac but no go on the AppleTV. Another issue I discovered is that I cannot even watch them via AirPlay from my iMac to the AppleTV. I get the same message "error loading content......"

This is obviously an issue! How do we get this escalated for Apple to fix it?

Having the same issue. The problem seems to have migrated to my movies as well. Just purchased the new Underworld and cannot watch. Issue began with Expanse, Madam Secretary and The Americans.

I have over 100 series + nearly 200 movies on my Apple TV and nothing new plays.

Edit: Tried unplugging, used different internet provider, holding down menu and down button, reset and restore also did not work. NOTHING IS WORKING.

Edit #2: Just purchased La La Land after Underworld did not work same issue. Can still watch pre April TV shows and movies.

Same problem and Apple Support opened a case on Sunday, 4/17/2017. Current episode of Designated Survivor will not download to our other devices but The Americans will download to our other devices. No improvememt since Sunday. No RedBull or CBS News channels either. The system is majorly and deeply damaged while the episodes for which I have paid are not viewable.

I am also gey the message AN ERROR OCCURRED LOADING THIS CONTENT in my Apple TV for the movie I just bought (HIDEN FIGURES). I have no troble loading and playing content in my iphone with TV app. I also got the same error when I tried to stream the movie from the iphone to Apple TV using mirroring. My internet speed is fine and the network test result was OK .

Already tried:

- Restat Apple TV - Reset Apple TV - switch Apple TV from Ethernet to WiFi and back from WiFi to Ethernet - change settings : TV resolution and subtitle.

Since I have 2 Apple TV devices, checked in the other one and got the same problem.

It is something Apple has done and must fix.

Hi guys,

Apple support replied to my e-mail "Please rest assured that our engineers are already working on this one, but I can’t say when the issue will be resolved."

It seems they are aware but no clue if and when this will be solved unfortunately. It might be worth sending further e-mails if it puts more pressure on them.

Thank you for the other replies, I was thinking of renting Hidden Figures and maybe purchasing LaLa Land, I won't!!

Apple doesn't usually respond to postings here. If you want Apple to know you also have this problem, you have to call Support or make a Genius Bar appointment or contact them some other way. They don't read the forums, AFAIK.

That goes for everyone in the thread. I know some of you can't take the time to call, but if you can, please do. It helps show Apple A) How many people are affected and B) We're not going to give up and go away. Unless they know it's a big problem for lots of customers, they won't prioritize the fix.
