after mac update (Sierra) duplex printing disabled

Hello,

I have a Canon MG3250, and after updating to the new version of Sierra (10.12.4), I cannot do duplex/two-sided printing: the two-sided option is grey and I cannot change it.

Before the update I could do it without any problem, I have downloaded and updated the driver for the printer, still same problem.

I have re-installed my printer but it doesn't change anything.

And I have the same problem with other printers that used to do duplex printing

Any suggestion?

Thanks

I had the same problem and what I did is:

1. Go to 'System Preferences' and then 'Printers & Scanners'

2. Click on '+' to add printer

3. Choose your printer in the menu and in the 'Use' drop-down menu below choose 'Generic PostScript Printer' and click 'Add'

4. Back to 'Printers & Scanners' interface, click on 'Options & Supplies...'

5. Click on 'Options' tab and tick the 'Duplex Printing Unit' box

This enables your duplexing function in Adobe, Word, Pages etc. so the two-sided printing will no longer be greyed out.

Hope it works.

Just discovered the same problem with my old Canon MP970. I no longer see the Duplex Printing & Margin in the pull-down menu when you select Print. Works fine on my 2008 MBP that is running 10.11.6 (highest upgrade possible with that machine).

On the Canon support site for the MP970 they say "macOS Sierra v10.12 (Detected). There is no driver for the OS Version you selected. The driver may be included in your OS or you may not need a driver.".

Same question as above, any suggestion (other than get a new printer 😠)?
