iTunes stuck at processing file since Windows Creators update

Since I have updated my Windows 10 to Creators Update (version 1703 build: 15063.138), iTunes is not able to process app updates anymore. They download fine, but then are stuck at "processing file". I use the latest iTunes 12.6.1.100. I have already restarted, emptied the download folder of iTunes, but this didn't help.

Although this article doesn't apply directly to your situation:

How to install Windows 10 Creators Update on a Mac using Boot Camp Assistant - Apple Support

it suggests that there may be incompatibles with Windows Creator and Apple (and I have seen similar posts to yours also). You may want to roll back to iTunes 12.5.5.5 and see if that works. See the iTunes installers section in:

Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

I have this same problem on my iMac and my MacBook Pro where the update gets stuck on "processing file". I have unchecked simultaneous downloads but this has not really solved the problem. It sometimes works when I update a single app at a time but not always. I have also signed out of iTunes and then signed in but also unsuccessful. I've closed and reopened iTunes also without success. iTunes also loses the data that it has previously downloaded and starts from scratch when I try again. In South Africa where data is probably amongst the most expensive anywhere makes this is extremely annoying.
