my apple tv software 7.2.2 (8015) can i update it same software as my iphone 6?

I cant connect apple tv to my iphone6 through air play only air play mirroring. It says it has to be the same software to my iphone 6 but my apple tv says its software is up to date. What should i do please help :(

Apple TV and iPhone run different software, the 3rd gen Apple TV is discontinued and there are no further updates. That being said, you can still use basic airplay, you just need to bring up control centre on the phone and swipe to the second tab.
