best visual impairment setting iphone 6

What are the best visual settings for iPhone 6-16gb (4.7") running iOS 10 or less for an badly visually impaired/almost legally blind person?

I understand she doesn't like to use headphones but, really, they may be the best option in the short term.

Thanks Syama 46, but voice over isn't an option for this person (wife) because she doesn't want to disturb others, she doesn't like to use Ear Buds either. I set her phone settings to Bold and Max Text Size and she still is unable to read any characters or words on her iPhone 6. I will refer to the article that you linked again but if anyone else have experienced this problem, please advise.

Because there is such a wide range of possible visual impairments, it's going to be hard to know what would best help your wife. She might want to consult her ophthalmologist or occupational therapist.

Thanks. She has been under two MD's with genetic backgrounds of early age onset cataracts. She will continue with upcoming surgeries. I was trying to get her set up for using her iPhone until pending surgeries.
