Thanks for confirming that. At least I know I'm not the only one who can't 'push' GMail to my iOS devices.
You can.... if you use a Google app or one of the third party apps (I seem to recall a version of Boxer for iOS). I actually prefer Google's Inbox app. I like the way it organizes my email. This works out fine for me as I really dislike the built in Mail app.
What protocol is being used? Pop3 mail servers don't do push.

Who is your email provider? Gmail only offers push through their own apps.
I notice the same thing, iOS (9.3.5) Mail doesn't have push option for my Yahoo and GMail. I never use POP3. They're all IMAP4 account.
Gmail hasn't offered push except through their own apps for some years now. Fortunately, I have no experience with Yahoo.
Boxer mail app (running on Android) offers GMail push too. Seems like the problem is on the mail client side or GMail 'push' option is only available on Android platform.
I apologize. There may be third party apps that also offer push. I should have, more accurately, stated that Google has not allowed push using the built in Mail client on iOS for a while now. 😉
I know but I thought we were talking about iOS Mail.

I like to cover all my bases. There will always be that poster who says "You're WRONG! Yes you can!" 🙂
