My spouse can read my messenger messages. How do I stop this?

I replied to a message via messenger sent to me from a facebook contact. The individual then replied to me a short time later with a screen shot of a message my spouse sent them asking about a topic I had mentioned in my reply. How is my spouse able to read my messages to others via messenger on my iPhone?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2.1

You must be sharing an Apple ID on iOS or one of you have setup Messages on a computer using the other persons Apple ID.

If your spouse knows your Apple ID password they could login to use messages on another device, see what devices are allowed to read imessages & remove any that you do not want to allow…

Right, I thought you were referring to Messages app - that uses the Apple ID.

Facebook uses your own Facebook login details. You may want to examine the Facebook privacy settings I think it is possible to post messages that may be public. I don't use Facebook so I may be wrong on that.

Asking your spouse is probably the easiest way to find out. If you don't want to ask change your Facebook password & see if your spouse complains. Check Facebook for a list of associated devices or connected apps. I suspect it may be within the Facebook security info…

In theory you should be able to block access to devices or apps you don't use but I can't say for sure as Facebook is not something I use.
