Ricoh MP C3003 Help

Hello

This weekend I was pursuaded to upgrade from a windows laptop to a MacBook Air, I was told the overall performance and longevity would be better, I had some reservations as everyone I work with uses windows but I was assured that the Mac would be compatible no problems. In our business we use some web based programs that are windows only compatible so I have installed windows 10 via parallels onto the Mac and no problems everything works.

I thought I was home and dry until I came into the office and needed to print, we have a Ricoh MP C3003 as above and even though I have installed the drivers no joy the printer whirs up and then nothing. I spoke with the manufacturer who managed to set me up with an ability to print but it is black and white only and very grainy no good for a professional business.

I am now lost as to what I can do, replacing the printer is not an option I am the only one running a Mac, the service adviser mentioned a postscript card however due to the lease etc we have to purchase from them and it is not cost effective.

Can anyone offer me any advice or a solution before I pack the Mac back up and return it and go back to a Windows laptop. I really don't want to, I have been working on the Mac for the last 24 hours and its fantastic much better than the alternatives but I am stuck.

Any help greatly appreciated but please bare in mind I am a complete tech phobe so explain anything in laymans terms as much as possible, thanks in advance.

MacBook Air, iOS 10.3, macOS Sierra

Hi NerdsAyeView,

Are you printing from your windows in parallels partition or using your mac directly? Did you install the latest drivers (Ricoh Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X) for your mac? I found a related thread on the forum Can't print from mac book pro to Ricoh Aficio MP C4500 where people actually found some solutions. Please have a look at those and try them out if possible.

Cheers,

Hi Thanks for the reply, I have checked trough the tread you linked and it seems a solution was found but more recent versions of OS X have rendered it useless, this is supported by users on other forums I have read.

I have now installed the driver for windows and can print through windows at about 85% - 90% quality, fine for PDFs but as I use a lot of Microsoft word I am having to convert the word docs to PDF and print that way and it is not as sharp as printing direct from word. I also can't select the tray with company paper in and can't switch from colour to black and white, I don't always need a colour document printed in colour. I can't print directly from word as Microsoft office is in the Mac not windows, so if I open a Word doc in windows it comes out of windows and takes me to Mac. (hope that makes sense).

It is a work around and not ideal, still somewhat defeating the object of upgrading to Mac for a more efficient computer. It may not sound like much of an issue but to have to convert to pdf and switch from Mac to windows and back all the time is a real pain.

Thanks again
