In Notes v.4.4 (719.68) is there a way to use "Float on Top" in the Window drop-down menu. It is greyed out. Thank you.

In OS X: Use the split screen -- two apps open on the same screen side by side. This allows Notes to persist and not be hidden when you go to the other app.
Open notes application , take your cursor on bottom left corner and create a new folder by clicking on plus sign .
And type the desired subject in it , the new folder will be created .
Double tap with on finger on .
A small window will open .
Then in the last take cursor on top menu bar click on window > Float on top is not semi greyed .

To use the latest Notes features, all you have to do is upgrade.
When you update your device to the latest iOS or macOS and open Notes for the first time, you see the option to upgrade. Choose Upgrade Now, then both your notes on your device and your notes on iCloud.com upgrade. Make sure that your notes finish upgrading before you leave the Notes app.
It still doesn't work! I recently upgraded from Mavericks to Sierra and since then I noticed that "Float on Top" is always greyed out. I don't understand but I think I will have to give up on using this feature. Thanks for trying to help.
I think I already have the latest version of Notes with OS Sierra v.10.12.5 (16F73): Notes v.4.4 (719.68). The solution for me is to use Apple Stickies instead and in the "Note" drop-down enable "Floating Window".
If you click under I cloud section the floating window is semi greyed , but in All google account it is working .
