All files went missing from folder on external drive and space is empty too

Hello,


So I've been working on a external hard drive and all of a sudden during an editing session with Adobe Premiere CC 2017 all of the files on my drive suddenly disappeared. I recovered the files using Data Rescue and put it on a brand new Lacie drive. Today it just did it again on that drive.


The hard drive had about 500GB of free space earlier today and but now it has 7 TB of free space so it looks like its all gone. Every single folder is still there but there is no media in any of the folders. It


I can't find any forum that addresses this issue on mac or adobe. Thanks for your help.

I don't see any problems with the way the drive is set up, as a GUID partition Map and MacOS Extended (journaled) Volume.


A drive that large must have its own power supply, not rely on USB power. It should also be more reliable if it never sleeps, because sometimes External drives get confused if they sleep.


It is possible if that drive just finished writing a lot of files, then was ejected improperly might lose some files, but I would not expect it to lose so many.
