iOS 10.3.2 update drains battery

I have an iPhone 7 Plus. I have had no battery life issues until updating to iOS 10.3.2. Prior to the update I would get a full day of use. I could go from 6 am to 11 pm and still have 20% battery life left. Since updating to 10.3.2, I am at 50% battery life by midday with light use, and need to charge before leaving work for the day. Anyone else having this same issue since upgrading to iOS 10.3.2?

Hello pechapa,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that since updating to iOS 10.3.2 your battery life has decreased. New updates have new features that can use more battery life than previous software versions. I recommend using the steps from the following article to maximize your battery life:

I had similar issues with iOS 10.3.2 of high battery drain issues on my iPhone 7 plus. Luckily I was able to get back to iOS 10.3.1. I now have zero battery issues. My only downfall was I had to completely rebuild my phone. Going back to iOS 10.3.1 did not allow a restore. I was not happy with that. So don't upgrade if you haven't.

Thank you...

I'm using iPhone 6s and facing the same issue with the battery. After the update 10.3.2 it is quickly draining my battery. However I think this problem actually started with the update of 10.2 which showed a marginal drop in battery life.

I'm not sure why apple is doing this. Android phones are getting equipped with better battery and battery management tools. But iPhone is going in reverse direction.

I chose iPhone because of its software and overall product qualities. But if you're getting a bad product after spending hundreds of dollars then what's the point in using such bad thing.

Hopefully apple listens to its customers and provide a reliable and meaningful update very soon.

I'm sorry but you are way off many people have been having issues with the latest update draining their battery. I too have not changed anything on my phone and within seconds it'll drop from 100% to 75% and continue like that until it powers off, only after a few short hours. I have done all the troubleshooting and nothing has helped. The only option at this point seems to go back to 10.3.1.

So before you jump on Pechapa for being rude perhaps you should take a moment and realize that these phones are not cheap and if apple provides a new update that drastically affects the battery life they should do something to fix it. Consider yourself lucky that you aren't having these issues.

Mine as well. My 6s drains way too fast like 20% than normal. I just updated mine from ios 10. Today there is an incident that my 6s was in 76% around 1:30 PM local time. After a around 20 minutes while not using it I checked it again and I'm in shock when I saw it around 39%. I tried to reboot it and after I opened the phone, it became 54%. The battery kinda unstable. I have 5s and it's kinda okay and haven't experienced anything same like my 6s. Have you figure it our yet?

I too am having battery drain issues with both my iPhone 7 plus and iPad Air since updating to IOS 10.3.2. I've installed no apps and made no changes to either device. My iPad is a few years old and I could be convinced that my battery is just getting soft but if I had not seen the same behavior on both devices after the upgrade. I purchased my iphone 7 plus in December, so based on the battery performance of previous iOS devices, I don't expect to see it's battery Start to fade this much overnight.

Although helpful for many customers, I find asking customers to check their battery charging procedures is unhelpful. I use both devices every day to do business.

Apple, if you messed up with this patch, just admit it, fix it and move on. Any other response just makes you look silly.

Had the same issue and here is the fix.

Download 10.3.1 and do a full redtore through itunes. When it comes back up do not restore from a backup. If you do it will make you go back to 10.3.2. Set it up as a new phone. Here is the key, I believe it is the carrier update wich is causing the issue. DO NOT INSTALL THE CARRIER UPDATE IF PROMPTED. My iphone 7 plus now lasts all day and still has 40% when I go to bed at night.

Ya it is very frustrating. I will not use my phone now unless it is plugged in. I had it completely shut off a few minutes ago at 100% battery. It will drain about 5% every minute and die around 70% and turn off. Was completely fine until this last update. Maybe I will take my phone in and have them look at it. Completely unusable currently

How to fix 10.3.2 battery drain issue

Step1. Download ios - 10.3.1

Step2. Connect your iphone to itunes and hold down the shift key and hit the restore button at the same time. This will open a folder box. Select the ios 10.3.1 that you downloaded. (If prompted do not do a backup, will be useless. )

Step3. When prompted to restore from a backup once the phone gets done with the upgrade choose setup as a new phone. You will need to install all of your apps and resetup your settings from scratch. (Its a pain in the *** but it is necessary)

Step4. If prompted to do a carrier update - DO NOT INSTALL CARRIER UPDATE. Hit later when asked. It will prompt occasionally , just continue to hit later.

Your phone will now get its battery to last all day. The issue is not 10.3.2 but the carrier update, the issue is the carrier update is embedded in the 10.3.2 update which is causing your radio to always run at full power. After some research it appears to only impacting ATT Iphone 7 / 7+ / 6s and 6S+. I have had apple replace the phone twice and each time same results with 10.3.2

Hey!

I own an iPhone 7 and I faced the same issue (like many other around the world who upgraded to 10.3.2). The system diagnostic reports showed nothing to help the cause.

Yesterday my phone hanged, and I had to hard reset/reboot it (by holding down the power and volume down button). After a restart, the battery drain issue was fixed, surprisingly. It's not back to how it was in 10.3.1, but the battery life is almost as good as it was before the update :)

Hope this works out for you too!

The battery drain is so annoying. With 100 % i can go for only 3 hours of usage with low power, dim screen brightness and then turning off location services. I see my friends with 10.2.1 cruising without any issues and i tested it with my friends. Even if i am not using my drvice battery drains at the speed of light and boom i am at just 19 in 3 hours withou any proper usage. This 10.3.2 update has ruined my life always have to worry about battery and power bank.
