iOS 10.3.2 update drains battery

I have an iPhone 7 Plus. I have had no battery life issues until updating to iOS 10.3.2. Prior to the update I would get a full day of use. I could go from 6 am to 11 pm and still have 20% battery life left. Since updating to 10.3.2, I am at 50% battery life by midday with light use, and need to charge before leaving work for the day. Anyone else having this same issue since upgrading to iOS 10.3.2?

Hello pechapa,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that since updating to iOS 10.3.2 your battery life has decreased. New updates have new features that can use more battery life than previous software versions. I recommend using the steps from the following article to maximize your battery life:

OH MY GOODNESS...

This does not help. I can close all the apps, charge the phone fully, unplug it overnight to test standby battery drain WHILE IN AIRPLANE MODE even and then the other night COMPLETELY TURNED OFF and it will drain over 10% of its battery. This is not some run-of-the-mill problem that the standard stock answers can solve...

I've registered just for this post.

This is outrageous. I have 4 month old 7 plus and I never had any battery issues up to 10.3.2 update.

It's 6 p.m. and my battery is almost dead (10%) as I'm writing this post. I did not install any new app nor change my regular usage pattern. Usually I end up having 30% at 12 p.m. as I plug my iPhone to charge over night. This drop of battery performance is outrageous and the issue should be acknowledged immidiately. Millions of people use this phones for serious work! I just can't wrap my head around the fact they missed it during multiple iterations of this version (alphas, betas)...

For me, this started when I updated to 10.3.1. I have a 5s. Clearly this is a problem that is happening on multiple devices. In addition to battery suddenly draining rapidly, my phone won't charge when it starts behaving this way. It's always fun to be traveling when your phone stops working.

I tried a restore of backup initially, but it kept hanging on iCloud settings (also a known issue). I gave up and restored to factory settings when I was able to get a little bit of a charge. Like others, I had no apps running and put my phone in airplane mode.

Restoring to factory settings fixed the issue for a week - until I hit another hotel wifi network. I thought maybe that was the problem, so I rebooted the phone and kept it on cell networks. Both times the problem occurred, I was on hotel wifi.

When 10.3.2 came out, I hoped I would never see the problem again. Alas, it's back today. On my home wifi. The phone just lost all charge while connected to laptop/iTunes and restoring to factory settings. Sorry I don't have any solutions to add. Just more problems.

My phone says that Safari is the biggest user of battery, after doing the update, didn't change any of my habits, always close all apps before closing phone and my phone normally uses 20% in 3 hours approx. and today in that same amount of time and similar usage, used 80% of my battery. Right now I have my phone in power save mode and just typing this message it has dropped 4%

Adding my experience to the pile - having similar battery issues with iOS 10.3.2 on an iPhone 5S. Like others here, I haven't changed my usage habits and checking the battery information under Settings doesn't show any non-stock apps consuming an inordinate amount of battery power, nor are the 'standby' and 'usage' counters unusually close to each other or different from actual usage/standby times. Yet my battery life has precipitously dropped from a charge lasting most of the day to now lasting only three hours. If I allow the battery to fully drain out, it takes more than an hour of charging for the red and white 'low battery' graphic to show, when it used to take five or ten minutes.

I didn't have any of the reported battery issues until now, so I honestly thought the battery had been damaged somehow and was making plans to purchase a used phone to replace this one until I remembered that I had recently updated to 10.3.2 and saw that others were having similarly sudden battery issues.

I've been using Apple's products for literal decades, and they have usually been solid. I sincerely hope the troubleshooting team is taking these reports seriously.

To really bring home this point, on my work iPhone 7 (which gives me HORRIBLE mobile signal everywhere in our area) I spent 22 hours of the past 24 hours with it in standby mode. This morning it sits at 88% battery remaining, also running iOS 10.3.2.

I do believe overall iOS 10.3 and its iterations are to blame for terrible and unnecessary battery drain, but clearly my 7 Plus is a hardware issue as well... finally have my grounds to hit the Genius Bar again and demand a replacement!

This is happening to me on the following devices

Apple 5c

Apple 5S

Iphone 6

Ipad mini

Apple SE is OK without any problems. Whatssaap,Mail & Yahoo Mail app , are the only applications running with background access. The other culprit I believe is the Hey Siri " Consuming too much battery", i have disabled the same and the battery performance has improved

Like everyone else on this thread, I've noticed a substantial drain on the battery of my 7+. Up to this point, my battery has lasted me all day, even with sporadic streaming of music throughout the day. I have a 25 minute drive to work. With my battery at 100% when I leave, it is typically only down to 98% upon arrival at work, and that is with streaming Apple Music the whole ride. I haven't installed any additional apps. As most people have done all of the usual troubleshooting steps; hard reset, soft reset, backup and restore, remove apps, use in low power mode or airplane mode, all to no avail, the battery issue logically stems from the recent iOS update. The high volume of iPhone users experiencing battery drain issues should prompt Apple to put out an update to rectify the issue, beyond the automatic response listing the troubleshooting steps. I work in mobile sales. The vast majority of our customer base prefer iPhones over Android so I hope Apple issues the fix sooner than later.

We are having the same issue on all three iphones since updating ios to 10.3.2. Includes excessive battery drain even when the phone is in standby with no apps running. I set it on night stand at 80%, wake up and it is 17%. The other issue I have is with battery %. It will say 20%, I plug the phone in to charge and it immediately jumps to 40%.

I think Siri is negatively impacting battery usage. I turned it off and it seems to help some, but still have problems.

Upgraded yesterday... today when I left home was at 70% ( just used it briefly in the morning). When I got to work (30 min commute) was at 50%

Tried to roll back at 10.3.1 ( excellent battery life for my iPhone 7 128gb) - almost bricked it - error 014 ( couldn't get out of DFU / recovery mode). Tried to reset , even downloaded 10.3.2 again and still same error ( 014) .

Went to a regular repair shop ( no official apple support in Argentina yet..), paid about 20 usd and got it " fixed" - but stuck in 10.3.2...

My hope with this, is that someone at Apple reads this, and fixes this problem.

Also, please DO NOT UPGRADE TO 10.3.2

I have the exact same issue, except with my iPhone 5s. Changed no settings, but experiencing massive battery drain after my update to 10.3.2. My wife's 6s is having exactly the same issue!

I agree, rather than a standard boilerplate response, it would be nice if Apple would do something about this. We've spent a lot of money on our iPhones and iPads and I'm tired of having issues and not getting a real response. I kind of wish the "overlords" on this site and Apple itself would stop with the "it's not our fault, it's your fault because our product is perfect" stuff and just fess up, admit the mistake and let us know when the "fix" will be available.
