iOS 10.3.2 update drains battery

I have an iPhone 7 Plus. I have had no battery life issues until updating to iOS 10.3.2. Prior to the update I would get a full day of use. I could go from 6 am to 11 pm and still have 20% battery life left. Since updating to 10.3.2, I am at 50% battery life by midday with light use, and need to charge before leaving work for the day. Anyone else having this same issue since upgrading to iOS 10.3.2?

Hello pechapa,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that since updating to iOS 10.3.2 your battery life has decreased. New updates have new features that can use more battery life than previous software versions. I recommend using the steps from the following article to maximize your battery life:

I have to agree. Why am I even searching for a thread like this one? Because I am having issues and looking for a solid resolution to come from Apple. Should I have to read through a bunch of tech guy articles and weed through weird YouTube videos for help? No, I should be able to come to the source, and be provided a reasonable solution to the brand new issues I am having... Here's why:

The battery drain I'm experiencing is extreme and clearly connected to the 10.3.2 update.

The people that buy your product use it multiple times day and depend on reliability. Battery life is part of that.

Last, I didn't just all the sudden watch too many cat videos on YouTube and it's just catching up to me now.

The Solution:

One that doesn't involve me hacking my way through "How to Videos."

One directly from Apple.

I NEVER respond or write on forums like this, but seems like enough folks are having these same problems. Apple please do something to reassure your customers they're feedback is not falling on deaf ears. I hate writing crap like this anyway.

What was impolite about what he said? Good lord.

Your response and Sterling's response is the equivalent to asking "Are you sure it's plugged in?"

We aren't stupid. Over 1,000 people on this thread alone reported that they are having similar issues.

You're going to tell me that 1,000 people are too stupid to do a system restore, close out apps not in use, or turn on battery saver mode?

No.

Get over yourself. People have every right to be frustrated. I have tried every basic trick you'd likely suggest and I still only get an hour or two until my phone is dead again, and it takes over 24 hours to get a full charge. But go ahead and tell me it's an app on my phone causing this issue.

I went to AT&T after running diagnostics. That's what they told me they did was turn off the "Background App Refresh". It's found under: [Settings] -> [General] -> [Background App Refresh].

I also went under: [Settings] -> [Display & Brightness] and clicked off the [Auto-Brightness] as it would max out the brightness. I have it mounted on my dashboard to use as a GPS and handsfree. So it was always set on bright.

I noticed I collected a bunch of APPS over the years, 480 to be exact. Well deleting a majority of them that I never use.

This worked for me. Good luck all.

No one is suggesting you're stupid. However, this is a technical support forum used by many, many technically naive people. Not everyone posting on these forums is at the same knowledge level as you. Some know more, a lot know less. In good troubleshooting, one starts at the beginning, with the simplest possibilities then methodically works through the options.

And, yes, the response was rude. I realize that the internet has caused a serious decline in civil discourse. But, when someone tries to help you, you say thank you. Even if it didn't help. Even if they were plain wrong. As in, "Thanks but that didn't resolve my issue. Do you have any other suggestions?" If you can't manage that, you say nothing.

Hi Guys, I´ve been one of the first that posted this issue ( almost bricked my iphone 7 trying to downgrade to 10.3.1 )

I´ve been almost 1 week with 10.3.2 and yesterday the battery seems to have "recovered" its usual performance ( got home at 7PM with 50+% after a regular day use)

I use PERSONAL carrier ( Argentina) so no AT&T issues, or "battery saver" tricks - just regular use. I have background apps update turned off ( 10.3.2 did not changed any of this when installed)... seems weird

Today i will test this again... but it seems that its learning (?) about the use....

Really I don´t know what happens, but it seems to be working now.

Hello my friend - I agree with you... I don't know what happened but the first few days after upgrading to 10.3.2 were the worst ones... Battery didn't last ... And know it's way better... Of course I did some tweaks --> disabled iCloud photo library, disabled all apps that use always use GPS and disabled a lot of background apps activities.

Today, I'm getting: 4 hours in use and 48 hours stand by, when I check on the battery bottom page.

I really don't know what's going on as well.

I have the same issue. My iphone 6S was 100%, plugged in in the car and 2 hours later said 1% so I shut it down. I have had iPhones since iPhone 3 and have never once ever hit 1%. I plugged it into power and then it said 42% and within 30 seconds jumped to 62% and 10 min later it is at 70% so it DEFINITELY is an OS problem with 10.3.2

my air iPad updated to 10.3.2 last week. The next day my battery failed at 10am after a full overnight charge. The next day it dropped from 100% to 20% in a couple of hours. I googled and found this was a known problem, went to the Apple shop where they seemed unaware of it. They did a reinstall, saying there was no way I could downgrade to 10.3.1, but that should fix it. The next day the battery went to 6% from 80% in an hour.

i googled and found a video showing how to downgrade to 10.3.1, did so and so far everything seems ok.

just wasted about 6 hours of my life.

It seems not drain the baterry but shows a fake battery percentage. I updated my iphone6s to iOS 10.3.2 the day before yesterday, then the disaster came to me: a. My iPhone powered off when baterry at 24% yesterday due to power used up; b. My iPhone showed 100% for the whole morning of today even I played some games; c, just a moment ago, it shutoff at 57%. What happened to apple? Just release a version without any test?
