Photo crashes when trying to print photo book

I've created a great photobook I'd like to buy through iPhoto.

I click on Buy.

When adding the delivery address as asked, iPhoto crashes. Each time.

Absolutely nothing special on my address and I'm in France 😟

Can you add any other address add all? Did you restart the mac after updating your card, to ensure that the Contacts.app quit and Photos reads the updated card?


Try to narrow down the problem. We need to know, if the problem is system wide - a problem that happens independent of your user account or if it only happens in your main user account. And if it is caused by non-standard system extensions.

  • Test 1: Try to order the book in Safe mode. This will disable non-standard system extensions. Sometimes applications you install can cause crashes by adding incompatible fonts or extensions to the system. See: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
    If you can enter the address in safe mode, submit the order this way.
  • Test 2: Sign into a different user account, create a test photos library with just 20 photos, create a book for testing and test, if you can enter a shipping address in this account. See: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204443

I have never seen this error message in a crash, but it is indicating a problem with the zip code of the delivery address.


Have checked, if the address format in the Contacts Card you are selecting is the correct format?

Open the contacts card, click "Edit", then select the address, click "Work" or "Home" and select "Change Address Format".

Ensure, that this is set to the format of the country of the address. And make sure, that the zip code is correctly entered. Photos does not like blanks in the zip code.

Everything was fine but I've edited it again.


Do you have any other choice than adding the address through the adress book? I have no choice, the button 'add a delivery address goes on the address book. If I want to add one, it's added to the address book.

Is there another way to directly have the address integrated to this screen?

I also tried with cards purchase, photo development, it also crashes.

Hello,


I am in France too.

I have the same problem since yesterday on my MacBook Pro and the MacBook Pro of my wife.


Sometimes the software crashes when I simply click "Buy", sometimes when I choose an address. I tried to empty the Application Support Contactbook folder, delete all my contacts. I tried a new library. I tried in Safe Mode. Nothing works 😟 It seems like a problem of validating French addresses...

Are you seeing the same error message in the crash log about the cityStateZip?

Crashing on exception: [<XPCOAddress 0x600000370980> valueForUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key cityStateZip.

And does your Contacts Card use the French format for the address as described in my screenshot (Re: iPhoto crashes when trying to print photo book)?


A year ago we had reports, that the address must not contain the letters P and O in this order, or Photos would interpret it as a Post Office box instead of a city and street name. Is there anything in the street name or city name that might your address to be caused read as a CEDEX address?

Also, sometimes the digits are read incorrectly if entered from the numerical keypad.

- PrestoPhotocan print Photos (and Aperture and iPhoto) books and ships internationally - I have not personally used the but the comments here have been good

Is the address in the same country as your billing address and the country of the print products store you selected?

A book can only be delivered in the country of your billing address.


But please post the crash log that LatryHN asked for. It might give us an idea, what is wrong. I just tested again, and I can select a delivery address from my Contacts, as long as it is the sam country and the address format is correct for the country.

Verify that in the Photos preferences the correct print products country is selected and Re-enter (to not just verify but re-enter) your billing information in your Apple Store account and manually enter the shipping address if different rather than using the contacts (it must be in the same country as the billing address)

Yes, I have the same error message on my two library for my MBP, and the same message on the MBP of my wife.


Sometimes Photos.app crashes before choosing the address (when I click on the "Buy" button). In this case the only solution is to empty the Contactbook (I disable the sync of my Icloud and Gmail accounts and I delete the local entries).


So I can start adding an address from the Photos.app application (Contacts Card use the French format). But it always crashes when I click on the OK button (see screenshot).


My test address does not contain P and O...

I write the zip code with the keyboard of the Macbook Pro


Very strange problem!

No it doesn't... Still "unexpected crash" when i click on the adress (i tried with a new one created in Photos, or one created in my adress book).
