SMS/Text message delivery report on iPhone

Am I correct in understanding that it is not possible to receive a 'delivery report' for SMS/text messages (NOT iMessage or email) on the iPhone? Or is there a workaround?

I have had this feature on all my other (non-Apple) phones - right from simple feature phones to other advanced smartphones (Android/Windows).

And before anyone suggests "carrier/network operator" feasibility, I know for a fact that that isn't an issue. The same SIM on my other Android/basic phone instantly offers delivery reports (be it a simple "check" mark beside the text that was sent or some other form of alert).

Can anyone confirm whether or not this feature is available?
