Hi, I am new to Apple, and the only Apple device I have is an old iPod touch 2nd generation. It is the closest I can get to a phone, and I do not know of any free dialer apps that do not require you to sign up using your phone number. I don't have one, as a kid. Also a texting app would be nice.

I know that I will probaby not get a reply since this forum has had no activity in a year, but I was hoping someone would answer. I guess I discovered my old iPod touch too late. Anyway, if I am not alone on this forum in this day and age, I hope I can get an answer.
What do you mean a dialer app? The iPod is not a phone, and as such cannot be used as one, except for the possibility of something like Skype. You cannot get a phone number assigned to the device. As far as texting, again, it is not a phone, and cannot send/receive SMS. You would need to use some type of app, but that also requires the receiver/sender to have the same app.
