Thanks for that insight! I've searched countless times online to find a solution. I managed to get my iPod to be detected on iTunes again by erasing everything on my MacBook via the disk utilities. After erasing, I plugged in the iPod again and it was detected on iTunes so I managed to factory reset the whole thing. Maybe go could give it a try as well.
Greetings
I have an iPod classic 160 gig since it came out. Also just bought a 2015 27 inch imac to replace 24 inch that failed. My Ipod over the years would not work with itunes after iTunes updates. I also thought it was the Ipod but after much hair pulling and gashing of teeth over the years I realized it is a apple itune update problem. My Ipod worked fine until the last itunes update. I have all ready checked the cable and ipod and USB ports. the ipod works correctly on windows computer. Your choice is like me wait months or a year for a iTunes update to correct the issue, because I am tired of switching my ipod from apple to windows and back again. Apple updates should not skew up another apple product that are made to work together. APPLE stop messing up my ipod classic.
Hi
Yes, My ipod functions as it should. Itunes will not detect it when connected to the iMac. I do not wish to wipe the ipod using windows as windows itunes does detect the iPod. The ipod is apple formatted. I have done this many time before, too much hassle to put music back on.
Try an alternate cable, check for fluff in the docking port, if found remove very carefully so as not to damage contacts.
