How can I uninstall Fan Control (not SMC Fan Control)? It wont respond to its controls. I'm unsure if I need even a properly working Fan Control. I read that 2000rpm is proper. But, CPU fan is 4650, HD fan is -107 (minus?!) and DVD fan is -107 (minus?! and when not used!). Also: all four current temps are 28F or 32F. I believe they should be 50?F.

I must, I believe, have proper rpm before uninstalling. But Fan Control wont let me change rpms. All of its controls fail.

Complications:

I have 3 libraries, system, user, and another. But I thought 2 is proper. This may confuse looking for Fan Control parts to uninstall.

I installed Fan Control after internal HD failed 6 months ago and I started using an external, Maxstor HD. A techie (w/some connection to Apple) said my internal HD was permanently dead. But, very recently, I reinstalled my OS on my internal HD. It mostly works OK. But I cant import Firefox bookmarks from the external HD or my backup external ,LaCie HD. And Automator wont auto-play an iTunes radio station when my computer auto-awakens in morning, as it did w/the external HD.

I reinstalled my OS to my internal HD w/the DVD I bought from Apple but the result was buggy so I used my cousin's DVD, which seems slightly older because its iTunes is slightly older. Maybe I should reinstall my OS w/my DVD because maybe Fan Control will then work, allowing me to configure it properly prior to uninstalling.

Basics for Uninstalling Software

Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them at the above location and delete them, too.

Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. If you cannot find the uninstaller then you could download the freeware, Easy Find, to locate files that need to be removed. The places you need to search include:

/Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. Check if the application has created a folder then delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.
Applications may install a startupitem or a LogIn item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder or the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. LogIn Items are set in the Users & Groups preferences. Open it inSystem Preferences, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Select the item from the list and click on the Delete [-] button to remove it.
Some software use startup daemons or agents. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.

Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

Be sure you restart the computer when all removals have been completed.
