Strange random sound in Macbook Pro Retina (mid-2015)

Hi, I recently bought a Macbook Pro Retina mid-2015 and since 1 week ago, it started making a strange sound at random intervals of like 5 minutes each. This is the sound: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1EWhbYpF1opaGhvYUhneDFjQkE Please Help!

Hi Joneidi,

Now I really found the sound! It was Outlook 2016. It was one of the default sounds for "No messages". I went to Outlook➡Preferences➡Notifications & Sounds➡And there I disabled: "No new messages". And now I don't hear the sound anymore!

Cheers,

Rod.

PS: Outlook should really change that sound in future versions of the program, cause it really seemed like a fan/virus/speaker type of problem. Thankfully, it was none of those!

Just slightly.

Fan/s could definitely be making the noise. I have a bathroom fan that does exactly what you're describing. It could be a sign of impending failure, or your fan/s could run like this for their normal lifetime. If you want a more "professional" opinion, bring the Mac to an Apple Store “genius” bar, where they'll be able to hear it much more clearly, for a free diagnosis: https://support.apple.com/contact

i fixed this

if this issue is not fixed in other solutions

try this

1. take a backup from any users files ( photos, videos, documents, notes, bookmark browser, project...)

2. add a administer user account

3. go to new user

4. delete previous accounts ( delete user and any not important files)

5. import your data in new account from your backup files

this issue is fixed and MacBook is so fast and silent

and cpu process is normal and fast and battery is high life time for 7 hours

Hi Joneidi,

Thanks very much for showing me another way. I took my Mac to the technical service and they found that all the hardware was working fine, and they resetted a lot of things, and thought it might've been a software issue. Now I hardly ever hear the sound. Like once per hour or even less and it's very subtle so it's not bothering me anymore.

I found the exact description of my noise (a soft but steady "shhh" sound) in the following website: Addressing various noises that may come from your Mac - CNETtogether with a possible solution, maybe like the one you proposed? Here it is:

"Speaker noises

You may hear some static coming through your computer's speakers. This can be anything from a soft but steady "shhh" sound to a more raspy static. Generally this does not matter much unless it can be heard even when the volume is set to low levels. Beyond steady noises are any pops that may occur when the system is initializing. These sounds can be hardware-based, but many times are software-based. Try resetting the computer's PRAM and SMC, but in addition also try removing any peripheral devices from the system and booting into Safe Mode."

In case the sound persists to an annoying level, I'll definitely try your solution.

Kind regards,

Rod
