community outreach
As a long time Apple enthusiast, going back to my first computer, an Apple II+, I jumped at the chance to volunteer to teach an iPhone/iPad class to seniors (mostly baby boomers), through a non-profit program. About 3 years, ago, as a frequent visitor and customer at the Philadelphia Walnut Street Apple Store, I spoke to some of the store leaders about my class and they generously offered to host my class in their conference room for a two hour workshop, 2 twice a year. Not only has this 4 hour a year outreach benefited the local senior community, but it has also brought some loyal new customers to the Apple Store to upgrade their phones and purchase other Apple products.
Two weeks after reading that Apple was sitting on $240B in cash, I was advised by the local Apple Store, that my 2 hour workshop was no longer within the store's business plan and that the store no longer had the budget for this outreach. The store manger has refused to return my calls or emails to discuss this decision.
Does anyone how I might contact someone within Apple management who would be responsible for community outreach to the senior community...if such a person exists within Apple?
