I recently purchased a MacBook and I just tried to print photos on my HP Photosmart 7550. It would appear that it is not compatible. Frankly, I have never had a good relationship with this printer, so my heart is not broken. But, I am concerned about the compatibility of a MacBook with whatever I buy next, so I'm hoping for some testimonials and/or advice. I need a printer that will print documents and/or photos, so not one of those "mini" printers. I have considered an all-in-one that also scans, vacuums, and makes dinner.
Thoughts?
MacBook 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo,
Mac OS X (10.4.8)
Thank you for contacting HP Total Care. Go to the Apple icon, About This Mac. Check Processor. If it is an Intel, the printer is not compatible. If it is a PowerPC, the printer is compatible. Most of the printers available at www.hpshopping.com will be compatible with the Intel. Any of the Photosmart printers (not Photosmart All-in-ones) available there are compatible with it.
So. That leaves me to wonder which printer to get as a replacement....
Followed the above advice with excellent results. Easy and solved a problem I had not seen elsewhere. Recent MAC convert and relieved not to replace this printer. (yet...)
So using the software above, I'm able to get my MacBook to recognize the printer, but whenever I go to print something, it just keeps hanging at "Waiting for Device."
