Problem with insertion cursor while using Numbers for Mac, Sierra.

macOS Sierra Ver 10.12.5

3.4GHz i5 iMac 27"

24 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Numbers Ver 4.1.1 (4438)

The insertion cursor does not display when entering new data into a blank cell or when trying to edit existing data in Numbers for Mac. The problem appears to have started with Sierra upgrade.

Data within a cell cannot be highlighted for editing.

Data must be deleted for editing and only then will the blinking insertion cursor display properly in that cell only.

After data has been deleted and edited within a cell and the cell has been exited, the insertion cursor will not work within that same cell if another edit is required. Data within the cell must be deleted again before the insertion cursor will display.

I have tried a new Numbers spread sheet and the same problem exists.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Hi,

Not sure what I am missing here but I can find no adjustments for tracking speed on magic mouse in system preferences. All I find are: Scroll direction, Secondary click and smart zoom and below that is Tracking speed.

Wow, I finally found some adjustments for the mouse in "Accessibility'. Adjusted the double click speed and am now able to get edits to work in Numbers.

Feeling kinda dim right now but I want to thank everyone for the assistance............paul

I connected my Magic Mouse, and it is working ok. Sorry.

I do see what you are talking about with no Double Click setting. I do not know what the secondary Click is, but if I don't have it on at all, the mouse works as I expect it to, with right click and left click doing what they usually do.

However, I find that I need to click a little more slowly, so maybe you can try that?

Or, maybe someone else can tell us what Secondary Click is for and what it does.

Thank you for your help...........

It took me awhile to find the change needed to be done in "Accessibility" in System Preferences and by moving the slider to a slower speed for the Double-click speed did the trick. The click and edit function now works in Numbers.

No need to remove Numbers 2.3.

I'm not sure what could be happening. Maybe Wayne has an idea?

You are saying that you were able to use Numbers successfully before?

deleting the Numbers App does not remove any data. Of course a TimeMachine back would be a remedy for such a situation.

Hello,

I am using an Apple magic mouse (not magic mouse 2). Tried adjusting the tracking speed with no change in the problem.

Not aware of any updates for magic mouse.............paul
