HCI Controller terminated; module unplugged or firmware reset/crashed.
After debugging for 3 days now, I am all out of ideas.
My problem,
since I upgraded my iMac5K (mid 2014) to Sierra 10.12.5 I no longer have bluetooth connectivity when logged on.
So as long as I do not log on to the iMac the bluetooth trackpad and keyboard work!
The problem immediately "transferred" also to my macBookpro 15 still running on 10.12.4 The same symptoms.
So I upgraded the macbook also to the lastest version, but no help here.
I tried all the standard cures : SMC reset, NVRAM reset, deleting the preferences file for bluetooth. Checked for interference, disabled all the 2.4GHz wifi, went into the woods to be sure that there was nothing interfering, powered down my applewatch and iphone...
On the imac I restored to 10.12.4 : still the same problem.
On the iMac I installed a fresh system: still the same problem.
ON the iMac I installed a fresh system from internet recovery: still the same problem.
BUT:
On the iMac I installed a fresh system WITHOUT my appleid. Bluetooth works... until I start Itunes and all devices disconnect. After I quit I-tunes, the keyboard and trackpad connect again as if nothing happened??
My guess is that something is wrong with the firmware of the bluetooth adapter, since the problem is no longer macOS dependent. But then again why was it showing on both my macs before I even updated the macbookpro to 10.12.5
I installed the hardware IO tools on the macbookpro and checked the bluetooth adapter and this is showing every 15 seconds or so and it's the same on the Imac. So the firmware is crashing or resetting??? I have a hard time believing that BOTH my bluetooth adapters went bad at the same moment!
So help :-/
