Apple Nike Watch Vs Samsung Gear Fit 2

So right now I have the Samsung Gear Fit 2. I really like it, it's a great watch and does everything except its geared more towards Samsung and I own an iPhone. I know that Gear Fit 2 will sync up with my iPhone and Samsung makes an app for it, but it's not the same. But I am looking to buy an Apple Nike+ Watch 2, before I go and spend almost $400 I want to make sure of a couple of things. So these questions are what I have about it: •Does the Nike Watch (or Normal Watch 2) auto detect workouts? Like my Samsung Gear Fit 2 will notice that I am working out, rather I be running, playing a sport, or cycling. It's one of my favorite features. It doesn't necessarily have to notify me, but I would like it to acknowledge it in the activity log. •Does the Nike Watch monitor my sleep? The Gear Fit will tell me when I was restless, light sleeping, and motionless and then put it all together in data to states how long I slept. •How long Does the Watch Last on battery? I want to be able to get at least 2 or 3 days out of it. •I also use the Underarmor "MapMyRun" app, is this app supported with the Nike+ Watch 2? •Can It show basic things like heart rate, weather, & how many flights of stairs I've climbed? •How easy is it to customize watch faces or even make your own? •Does it automatically take my heart rate reading every hour? I know some of these are going to be Samsung Only or things are going to look different and be in different places. But I am will to changed if it's going work similar to the way my watch works now.

Hi

1. Does the Nike Watch (or Normal Watch 2) auto detect workouts?

Apple Watch (any model) does not auto-delect workouts.

More information about the built-in Workout app is available here:

Once it has been set up, the Activity app runs continuously in the background during general daily wear, tracking results including active calories, exercise minutes and steps taken:

2. Does the Nike Watch monitor my sleep?

The built-in apps on Apple Watch (any model) do not currently include sleep tracking features.

Various third-party apps offer sleep tracking features, some requiring a third-party accessory. Examples of apps and accessories that you may wish to consider include:

You may also find the following of interest for use on your iPhone:

3. How long Does the Watch Last on battery

Battery life varies depending on use and other factors. Examples are detailed here, including up to 18 hours with usage including 90 time checks, 90 notifications, 45 minutes of app use, and a 30‐minute workout with music playback from Apple Watch via Bluetooth:

Apple's tips for maximising battery life on Apple Watch are detailed here:

You may find it most convenient to charge your watch nightly, overnight, being sure to follow Apple's safety and handling instructions:

You may find (the optional) Nightstand Mode useful:

4. I also use the Underarmor "MapMyRun" app, is this app supported with the Nike+ Watch 2?

MapMyRun can be installed on all models of Apple Watch.

For information using MapMyRun in conjunction with Apple Watch, I suggest that you consult the developer's support resources and/or submit a support request:

5. Can It show basic things like heart rate, weather, & how many flights of stairs I've climbed?

6. How easy is it to customize watch faces or even make your own?

The watch face on Apple Watch can be customised to show information from built-in and third-party apps using complications.

Built-in complications include Weather and Heartrate. Apple Watch does not track flights climbed, as it does not have a barometer. Flights Climbed can instead be tracked by your iPhone, if it is taken with you.

The built-in apps on Apple Watch do not display flights climbed, either within their apps or via watch face complications. You may find that a third-party app offers this feature.

More information about customising Apple Watch with third-party apps and complications is provided here:

7. Does it automatically take my heart rate reading every hour?

Heart rate is measured automatically:

  • Regularly throughout the day when you are still (potentially every few minutes).
  • Continuously during workouts (when recorded via the Workout app or a third-party app that supports this feature).

It can also be checked manually at any time via the Heart Rate app.
