Transfer files to Apple TV?

I've seen discussions where people flat-out state that there's no storage on the new generation Apple TV.

However, it comes in two configurations: 32 or 64 GB.

Is that storage exclusively for apps and games? Or can video files be transferred to it?

Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Hi Jay Nungesser. I don't want to start an argument, but you can store a video on Apple TV using the tvOS VLC app. It's not something you'd normally choose to do, however. It cannot handle DRM content, which leaves you with video you created yourself. And, by the rules of tvOS, the storage is temporary, meaning a higher priority app could grab it at any time. The concept is that the storage is just a buffer for cloud data, managed as needed by the apps. This is different from the storage on iOS devices. So your video could evaporate at any time.
