There is an easy work around to the "non-existent" add contact button when you have a large group. Follow these steps:
1. Note the name of the contact of the first person in your existing group text;
2. Then, go to contacts and Add the new person that is not currently in the group to your contacts (skip if they are already in your contacts)
3. go to create new message
4. begin by typing in the name of the person identified in #1 above next to the word "To:", this should populate a list of possible text groups
5. find the text group that you want, tap that group, this will filln the "To:" section with the full group
6. you will have a cursur at then end of the full group, start typing the name of the new contact (person in #2) a list will appear and tap on the proper person
7. tap on "text message" and begin to type. The person identified in paragraph #2 has been added.
Godspeed!
I completely agree.. here is a laborious work around if you really need to add to an existing that is basically copying the whole thread and starting a new one with the added name and everyone else and then pasting the thread.. guh, shame on Apple!
I've been an iPhone user since the very first one. I've got an iPhone X. This type of thing has me seriously thinking about switching. I've been thinking about it for a while, but every time I try to do something stupid like add a person to a group text, or tie my phone in with something else, or whatever... it's just not workable. I search online for solutions and continue to find threads like this that Apple just does not listen to. Honestly, unless usability is addressed in the next release, I'm pretty much done. I'll pay my phone off and move on from Apple, even though that means loosing everything I've invested into and set up with this platform. There are just too many things that are wrong and not workable.
Apple, if you bother to read this thread, understand: it's not about the adding someone to group text, or the closed market on apps, or your constant and unflinching fight with any and all competitors that prevents you from creating or supporting applications not generated by, or monetized for your company. It's not locking us out of hardware options, or ignoring the developments and changes in technology other companies have been supporting for years. It's how you treat us, your customers. You don't listen, you don't care, and you don't help. There's not so much as a response on this thread from a moderator after the cut and paste job we got at the beginning. We pay a lot of money to buy your equipment, accessories, and a wide variety of your services, and yet you treat us with a level of disdain, if not outright apathy, that is beyond my capacity to understand.
You are on the verge of losing another customer, though I doubt that I am the first, or the last.
Thanks good find. If only
apple gave even a little they would have replied as you did. I too am contiplating dropping Apple. Selling out to the Chinese has me very tempted to switch to Android, thanks though man.
This doesn't seem to work if a non-apple user (shame on them) is included in the group. How can I add someone in this case?
I don't think you can. Use an app from the app store to send group messages instead. Connect is a good one.
Is there some way to add a third person to a two person conversation? When I try on my phone or my husband's, there is no Add Contact button. This is just pitiful on Apple's part.
Honestly I’m kinda disappointed
Me too!
I’m disappointed Apple hasn’t corrected the inability to “Add Anyone to a group” once established regardless if it’s Apple and/or Android User. I hope Apple will correct this soon.
Super frustrating that there’s no “add button” for me to add another iPhone number to a group text!!! Apple needs to fix this ASAP!!!
EXACTLY!
How do you add a contact to a group text?
Tried to figure a better way to say it, but lsernameuser1 kinda nailed it.
Hey Apple. This really *****. When will it be fixed???
Definitely still not showing on my phone. Please Apple with all your patches fix this one it would be sooo much easier if it actually did what you said it did 😡
