I accidentally deleted text messages

I accidentally deleted a string of messages and I need to restore them. Is there a way to do so? I read that iCloud backs iMessages up.

iOS 6.1.2, Idk. I have an iPhone 6

Hi Pattersond2005,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that you've erased some text messages that you'd like to restore to your iPhone. I understand reaching out to see if this is possible and I'm happy to provide some information. If you have a recent iCloud or iTunes backup from before the messages were erased, it is possible to restore them using that method. It's important to keep in mind that any recently added information, messages, photos, contacts, reminders (not synced with iCloud or iCloud Photo Library), and other recently added information will be overwritten by the backup you restore. I'd recommend taking a look at the information linked below to be sure restoring your backup is what you'd like to do.

This will help you to find any recent backups you have: Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

For more information about iCloud backups: What does iCloud back up?

To see the differences between and iCloud and iTunes backup: About backups for iOS devices

Should you decide that you'd like to restore a previous backup to recover your messages, these steps will guide you: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Warmest Regards.
