First, try completely drying out the remote.
- Remove the battery.
- Purchase some Silica beads from a hobby store.
- Place the beads and the remote in a zip-lock bag in a warm area for several days.
- Then try it again.
The problem is that the cracks in any electronic device wick water deep into the device through capillary action. No amount of physical drying will help get that water out. Silica beads aggressively absorb water vapor as it evaporates from within your device. Give is a few days or even a week and I bet it goes back to working. Don't bother with rice as many suggest. Silica beads are used in scientific labs to desiccate samples because of their aggressive absorptive action. An large bag is cheap and can do the same for your remote. These are the same beads that are shipped in small packets with new electronics.
