Hello, I have a spread sheet for a card game. For quicker set up, I would like to be able to randomize the card lists. How to I randomize or "shuffle sort" the Columns? Thank you!
One way is to have an adjacent column with RAND() in it. The sort on the column with RAND().
Each time you make a change in the document RAND() will recalculate, allowing you to get a new random order by sorting on the column.

In my example I meant each possible card in the deck is listed once in the first column and the first N cards are taken after each sorting, so no chance of duplicates.
However, this doesn't address the situation where you want a random selection of remaining cards (i.e. there is no replacement of cards back into the deck).
I think Wayne's solution covers the case where there is no replacement. Mine assumes a selection from the full deck each time.

I downloaded an app called "Random Decision Maker" on the App Store. Super cool, did the trick, thanks all!!
Had a quick look. Think I'll stick with Numbers and Excel for the random stuff.🙂 Much more flexible.
