How to remove password of other account?

Guest user account is named as "other". When you click the icon, it asks for a username and password. I opened "users" in "system settings" and it only lets you disable or enable guest user account.

Hello.

The easiest way of resetting the password to either your main "user" account or a "guest user" account is to simply restart the computer in recovery mode. To start you will want to close out of open windows and shut the computer down. To enter recovery mode simply hold the CMD + R keys immediately after turning the computer on (command and R must be held down immediately after pushing the power to turn on mac). Once you see the loading bar and the apple symbol you can let go of the keys and are ready for the next step. More detailed explanation about recovery here: About macOS Recovery - Apple Support

After entering recovery mode you will notice things look different. After selecting your language or entering wifi password if needed you should see a macos utilities page with 4 options. You will want to ignore these options as we will need to access the top menu bar. Look up near the apple symbol in the top left of computer then over to "Utilities" menu option. Select this menu, then select terminal. Type in terminal command "resetpassword" without the quotations and press enter. This should allow you to choose the guest account and successfully reset password. To exit recovery mode simply restart computer using the apple menu on top left. More on different options of resetting user accounts here: Change or reset the password of a macOS user account - Apple Support

Hope this helps! 🙂

yes that's one way. another way without using sudo(1) is to su(1) admin then maybe su(1) root and run passwd(1).

people who re-sell mac are supposed to run About macOS Recovery - Apple Support before selling it (by Apple's request). unfortunately they didn't

in this case i do suggest you run About macOS Recovery - Apple Support.

you shouldn't be using an iMac that's been "fiddled with by others" you should have the experience of using it like new

but you may already have signed into iCloud - if you did you should be able to use the same iCloud login you already created.

Once again, the Guest account will not be named "Other." It is named "Guest." That is all it will every be named.

"Other" showing up in the login indicates that either the root user has been enabled or there are users which are marked to not show up in the login window.

Since it is used and was not configured properly for resale, I suggest you follow the steps outlined in this article:
